I usually do "Are these items different?" HIT from amazon. Usually 4 percent of my HITS rejected. But today out of 650 HITS 160 are rejected. This has drastically reduced my approved rate. I don't know how so many HITS went wrong.
Can anybody tell me what is correct procedure to do it. Any tips to find which items are same and which are different?.
In some cases I found only few words are different in the item name, but logically both are same. What to answer for these HITS?

Anybody has got 99% approval rate for these HITS?. Please help and share tips.
    Thanks

I had bad luck with those hits from Amazon too. I completely avoid them now. I know that I could have gotten some of them wrong, but not 10% of them.

There is a high rejection rate on these hits. The only recourse is to avoid working on them.

    I agree with that.

SECRET TIP FOR KEEPING YOUR HIT REJECTION RATE LOWER, IF NOT LOWEST:
Don't work on Mturk anymore, that's the best I can suggest!!! Hope that's helpful!!!!!!

Most of us who work on mturk have long ago realized that those hits are poison. There is no tip or trick for getting it right. I once got rejected when one of the items was a watch and the other was a toy. I said they were different, and it got rejected. It's a set up. Avoid those hits like the plague unless you want your stock to plummet.

    Did amazon do that?

Are these item different is given amazon requester. If it is a setup to get more rejections, then why amazon want to do that?

I didn't mean a literal set-up. It's an expression. In other words, they do not care one way or the other. They even know that the way they grade these hits isn't fair but they do not care.

Problem is these HITs are 'peer reviewed'. Which means they post the same HIT three times (not sure about the 3x, but keep that as a given for the rest of this text). If all three answer equally, (so 3x 'same' or '3x 'different'), they are approved. If one deviates (2x 'same' 1x 'different' or reverse), it is re-isued as a deal-breaker.

This means that in the end the majority wins. If the majority are slackers, and they say 'same' because the picture is the same, but the text is completely different, they get approved, and the one person that does the correct thing and marks 'different' gets rejected.

Therefore, the more complex the items, and the smaller the difference, the higher your chances are that your answer is rejected.

Indeed. And that's exactly why these HITs are broken and unjust. In fact, Amazon is privately warning other requesters away from this approach, calling it 'unsustainable'. They need to withdraw these HITs until they find a way to operate them without harm to good workers.

I don't think anybody is complaining about the large dumps of small engine parts last week. It's not every week that you can snag 40,000 plus HITs with a rejection rate well under 1%.

On the other hand, comparing $20,000 rack servers, with all the associated bells and whistles, might not work too well here.

Ya...I don't understand the analogy...but 1% rejection? AS IF!!! It is way higher than that.

Normally it is, but from about April 4-12 there were hundreds of thousands of HITs (carburetors, filters, etc.) where there were no pictures and almost all the part numbers were different. For once, the heavens opened up and everyone actually agreed that the parts were in fact different. They're still popping up throughout the day, just not as many.

I'm glad you were able to benefit from that. After I got a bad taste in my mouth I just never looked into doing them anymore.

I used to do a lot of these hits and with good success. I tried never to do a hit that has a no image available pic. Most of the times these gets rejected.
