If you really wanna rebuild your reputation, please lower your status and make apologize to every worker who was hurt by you.Why do you just want to solve the problem within some forums?Every worker is equal and deserve your apologize.
Even so you still make tons of execuses to not to reverse rejections. And I know the Amazon.com gives you the power to be so tough and arrogant cause they need you requesters’ money and they don't give us a damn care. But if you are still going to get some work done here in mturk,I strongly suggest that show your sincerety please.Actually I didn't care too much about your 376 rejections as another requester I trust before gave me 2400 of those.
What I feel unpleasant is your attitude.I am pretty sure if you don't make things right,it is impossible to get cheap and good work here any more.

    Following is his reponse:
    Re: ID
Hi. I'm manually randomly reviewing some of your results and I see some inconsistencies:

You marked this spotlight as "Play".

    And this cord.

    And this lamp...

You said this floor lamp belonged in a bedroom.

You marked this outdoor lamp correctly.

Based on the very erroneous nature of your results, I cannot recommend that you have your rejections reversed. I recommend that you do not pursue this matter farther, and avoid doing LB HITs again in the future. In the future when you work on mTurk, if you do not know the answer to a HIT, it may be wise to return it instead of making a guess.

    Thank you for your understanding.

What happened? Did he answer you with a refusal to reverse your rejections?

Did you actually get a response from lighting buff? Or just through his helper? Just curious as it seems there has been nobody outside of TN that has actually received a response from the requester himself.

What kills me most about this is that these hits were what? One cent? Two cents apiece? If he paid us all, he'd only be out about twenty dollars.

He probably tips his caddy more than that.

Wow! If some one rejected that many of my HITs I think I would go homicidal!

Amazon won't / doesn't get involved in these cases?

What can some one do in a situation like this? I mean is it just over - stats ruined for good??!!?! GAME OVER???

OUCH! No one should have that kind of power with out supervision and back up systems!

Is the rep from the company giving you a reason why they feel they shouldn't reverse the rejections? Do they feel they have a legitimate reason? Or are they just sticking by their guns out of some emotional thing?

    Best of luck!

Amazon won't / doesn't get involved in these cases? In my years of experience on Mturk, I would say no, they generally don't unless requested to intervene by the requester themselves. There have been requesters like this who come through and reject everything and nothing is ever done by Amazon about it.

What can some one do in a situation like this? I mean is it just over - stats ruined for good??!!?! GAME OVER??? That's exactly what happens unless one can improve their stats before Amazon's QC kicks them out first, which is likely to happen.

such a long speech for nothing. Nobody on mturk listens, they are all a bunch of crooks and misers who keep changing their ids on mturk to deceive the millions of turkers out there. though mturk doesn't have any identity checks for resuqesters, so they can assume as many different ids as they can while mturk will come crashing on any turker who has more than one account.

Too bad, all you can do is avoid some requesters like the plague.

Hey, Zhaozhen, you forgot the images. Let me help you out with that:
I don't understand why some entitled workers think that they are above the law. I turk myself. I've only done 16,000 HITs, so for me 379 rejections would equal an approval rate of 97.6%, which is completely unacceptable. And yet, I let these rejections stand. Why would I do that? I looked very hard at your results to find a reason to let them slide, but I could not. If you think it is okay to just guess and provide poor quality work, none of your rejections are a surprise to me, not these and not the 2k+ you got from Alex Baron. I don't care what other requesters have done for you in the past (hint: most of them pay so poorly because they get such shitty results), guessing is not permissible, regardless of what some "celebrities" that have the mystical ability to do TLR HITs in three seconds on this site have told you. You don't think we want to reverse them at all? Lots of turkers on TN got theirs reversed. I came here since I know that not everyone has a TN account. Thank you for showing me that that was a mistake.

And Strlfn, maybe you should polish up on your elementary math skills. 27,000 of these were rejected, for about $500+ in expenditures to reverse them all. The fact of the matter is that we are not going to be reversing bad quality work.

For the rest of you, now that you see the results, maybe you'll understand why the rejections were not reversed in Zhaozhen's case. Others who contacted me through here, even one who did double the amount of HITs as Zhaozhen, are going to be reversed.

That is just very unfortunate. I guess we are all just fish in a pond with way to many fish... So at this point no one cares about the quality of the bait!

Very scary... Will keep things like this in mind before accepting any HITs... I spend WAY too much extra time verifying my work to deal with this kind of disappointment!

    WOW!

That kind of puts things in perspective!

Thanks frb for sharing! (Although I would hate it if it were me and my "dirty laundry" was aired so publicly.) -OUCH-

I was hoping that there was a reasonable and justifiable answer to all this and, of course, there is!

I would recommend that in the future these HITs be restricted to US only workers as I can't imagine how some one in some other countries would absolutely pick up on the nuances of American decor and categorize these correctly.

I would, however, recommend to the requester that they offer to approve the HITs AFTER receiving return payment so that the user is not completely destroyed on this one situation and the requester is not out any money for crappy work. Kind of lesson learned thing - and they can continue to work but now know that some requesters aren't playing games and hopefully choose there HITs and perform their work accordingly. This is the real world for real money! But if this is the first instance of poor quality work in a long line of quality work then maybe a second chance is warranted... If this is typical work or if this is a new worker who didn't bother to spend the time to learn the guidelines and provide an acceptable work product then the hell with 'em. Let them squirm!

    Just my opinion! :)

    Happy Turking all!

Were these majority rules HITs? I'm just wondering because it all seems so subjective. Does it state in the HIT what lamp is what? Because quite frankly I would have a floor lamp in my bedroom.. hell I DO have a floor lamp in my bedroom. I also have one in my living room and one in my daughter's room. I didn't see any of these HITs while they were up so I'm just wondering if they offered what THEY considered to be a floor lamp, table lamp, etc or if you were just supposed to use your judgement.

Yeah I'm bored.. there's no good HITs.. I'm rambling to pass the time LOL

These HITs were not majority rules. The requester made an error when rejecting them, as he did not understand how mTurk worked and did not know the implications on workers. There was an error in them anyway, so all of the data is actually useless to him. However, on principle, workers who tried to cheat aren't getting reversals. That floor lamp question would not have been enough, although (it should be very clear that) a nice floor lamp like that has no place in a bedroom.

Erm... Bing (the shopping engine) brings up tons of matches for bedroom floor lamps.

    Here’s one: http://www.westelm.com/shop/lighting/floor-lamps/

    And I quote:

But I guess it is easier to stereotype an entire forum, isn’t it?

Makes me glad I didn’t do any of these clusterfuck HITs...

None of those lamps look like the one in my post. Categorizing comes with a lot of attention to detail, and as I said that lamp alone was not what made my decision. It was mostly the fact that they thought spotlights and Tiffany lamps belong in a kid's play room. The fact that they got that one nearly right appears to just be luck. Given enough time, a hypothetical monkey typing at random would, as part of its output, almost surely produce all of Shakespeare's plays.

To me a lamp can go anywhere a person wants to put it. If a room needs light and it matches your furniture then why not put it where you want? Very subjective!

Many people have nice floorlamps in their bedrooms. Just because you don't have a reading chair with a lamp beside it in YOUR bedroom doesn't mean it isn't the norm for many, if not most, other people.

It's because of bullshit like this that every worker with TO and a lick of sense will avoid all Lighting Buff hits in the future, as well as any subjective hit from any requester with no ratings or bad ones.

Edited to add: And if this idiot didn't have (or simply doesn't want to pay) the $500 to pay for his faulty hits, he had no business posting them in the first place.
