requesters block

    i have been prevented by a requestor . in general the blocks have any time period or it is a permanent for ever ?

    I think it is permanent... and if you get too many locks Amazon bans you, I think, so be cautious. Others who have experience of blocks will no doubt be along soon to help you more.

    Did u get the amazon warning mail after the block ? If so its of concern else it must be a soft block only..

    What is the difference between soft and hard block? Apologies if this is answered elsewhere.

    A soft block is something where a requester prevents u from working on their HITs but that is not official where u r just revoked by the requester and u might be notified of that when u try to do their task.Just sounds like disqualifying u from it

    A hard block is where a requester reports your work as worthless or spam and puts your worker ID in their blocked list followed by a warning mail from Amazon stating that your account is prone to permanent suspension incase u r blocked by multiple requesters.


    What i've learnt from this forum is that the max blocks allowed wud be 3.

    It wud seem harsh when u get the warning mail from mturk just after your very first block :)

    Is there any time limit like , within six months if u get three blocks u will be banned from mturk or u have only three lifelines for ur account.

    Yep...multiple(3 as ppl usually say it) blocks on our account in three months time and Mturk suspends our account

    So 1 block and we gota be very cautious for the next 3 months

    I think Amazon emails you if you get a block.

    Please try to get knowledge from the posts in the threads on this forum rather than spamming on every topic....

    ask the requestor to unblock you

    Even I once blocked by a major requester on Mturk but after that I contacted the requester and offered my apologies and promised that I won't repeat the mistakes again. The requester unblocked me in a few days.

    They are supposed to -- doesn't always happen. The best way to find out is to email Amazon directly.
