Hi everyone.I am new to M Turk and have a few questions.What is the best time to do hits?It always seems that I can never find a lot of hits to do.I really do not mind the low paying hits right now, because I see these as practice and learning my way around.The problem is if I find some they usually have 2 hits.all gone I guess.That leads to my second question.How do you locate the mass hits?I have all the scripts and these have helped me a lot.I also read a lot of the post on here.I have 128 approved hits so far with 1 rejection.Any help would be greatly appreciated
the best time to do hits...I assume it is a day time for the United States and night time for we Indians That is around 8 am to 6 pm in US and likewise 8pm to 6am in India Thats the best time i have seen when good hits strt to flourish on Mturk
You can sign up for turk alert and get (somewhat reliably) email alerts when the requester posts HITs. Different requesters are in various time zones and even their "working hours" can vary. Surveys usually pop up more during the morning hours the first couple days of the work week. Batch HITs sometimes show up in the middle of the night. Maybe to help learn their schedules you could write down when you see their HITs and check for consistency or patterns. Change up the way you search HITs, too. Some people get lucky and others are vigilant in their search.
As for what time is best, I'm not sure there is a best time. You may find some requesters that load work at specific times, but in my experience it is more or less random. You should set up Turkalert to notify you of work by your favorite requesters. To see mass HITs you can sort them by most available, but I recommend caution in the beginning and when working for a new requester, be sure to use Turkopticon. Even if a HIT shows many available you are sometimes limited in the amount you can do on a particular task.
I usually don't get on until 3PM Eastern... am I missing out on choice work batches that get put out during the day and get eaten up before I get online?
It's really random. Sometimes I'll get on at 8AM eastern, and will find some great hits and earn 15 within an hour and a half or so... then from 12PM to 4PM I'll see absolutely nothing. Other times I'll keep checking from 8AM to 12 and nothing will pop up, then I'll do $30 between 12PM and 4PM.
What are you doing to make so much? With nothing coming in from CrowdSource, I'm at next to nothing, and that's from surveys (ugh). I think last year spoiled me, and I've been ill-equipped to adjust.
What am I doing? Everything. Huge batches of penny HITs, $.50-$2.00 surveys, 45 cent paragraph rewrites, quick 5-15 cent transcription jobs (5-45 seconds of audio). Just do a little bit of everything and the money rolls in. I've put in about 2.5 hours of solid work today and have made right around $22 so far, and I see plenty more that I can keep doing to make more.
