Today i opened 20 tabs for RER and got the message Worker Account Halted for 5 minutes Your account has been temporarily halted. This can happen when you repeatedly perform actions that indicate you are not abiding by the Participation Agreement. A halted account is unable to preview, accept, resume, or submit HITs. This halt will be automatically lifted by the system after 5 minutes.
I belive your only allowed to work on 3 hits at one time opening 20 of there hits i assume triggered an alarm.
No, you can work on 20 or 25 at a time. It's because there a captcha that you missed. It doesn't really do anything except stop you to make sure you're not a bot.
This is the answer. The maximum # of open HITs most Turkers can have is 25. That may be higher for Masters; I am not sure.

That was a reply from AMAZON to yada yada about using more then 1 tab and there replie was you can have up to 3 hits open at once.. So 25 hits at once according to amazon is a violation of the TOS.. 3 hits open at once is the max.
I've been doing between five and ten hits for years now and never had issues. You're allowed by Amazon to have 25 hits assigned to you at one time, so I can't see how it's against TOS to have those if they allow you.
No... I routinely accept 25 HITs at a time. When you try the 26th, you get a message saying in effect, “you have accepted the maximum.” There is no rule against it whatsoever. incorrect captcha verfication is the reason for the message..NOT most probably the mulitple tabbed browsing !!
I was doing Medallia, the same case happened to me also. Is it going to be serious concern from mturk? I am little scared this time. Please give suggestions here.
Its not a serious one, i got this message more than 20 to 30 times in my 4 months of turking. This appears because of entering wrong more than 3 times captcha codes or accepting hits without entering the captcha. Each and every turker should enter the captcha for every 38 accepted hits. Its not a serious issue. Cool....
Exactly. If you try to open 20 tabs, and the 2nd one asks for a CAPTCHA, then #s 3-20 will also. Unless you are counting / paying close attention, the multiple tab approach eventually bites you.
Yes, thats absolutely correct. You get the message when you enter the wrong captcha. But, I believe the captcha needs to be entered after every 35 HITS not 38.
lol...and I had been thinking tht it was some serious issue when twice i got this halt and used to sit numb till the 5minutes wait got over with the fear of getting banned incase Amazon thought i am a BOT.I am laughing at myself !!

Nobody knows! It's extremely random and very unpredictable how they assign it, and there's good reason for that I'm sure.
That is the right ans. If you enter the captcha wrongly you will get it. Edit: adding more me got it once and me was worried then I got it.
