I'm new to Turking, just started last night. I've read the FAQ, done a couple tasks, gotten paid for a few. I took a qualification test on headshot pictures, & passed. I'm wondering what qualifications are good to take, & for what reasons. I like doing handwriting & audio transcriptions, but how do I find those tests? Thanks for your time & info!
search for HITs with keywords that are describing what you like to do transcription transcribing SpeechInk has a test you can take, you'll be emailed the results. They also have a website so you can log in and see how you're doing. I don't remember what it was for Casting Words. When you are looking at HITs, select "Show All Details". If there's a HIT you're interested in that you aren't qualified for - click Request Qualification. Sometimes there's a test to take and sometimes it's automatically granted (edited to add: ok, those aren't the only two options but sometimes you just won't get qualification). It's not bad to stock up on qualifications but at the same time don't waste too much time getting random ones that may never be put to use. Don't be scared to take qualification tests. Some of them you can take again right away. Before you select to take a test you can check the screen for the Retake Delay. Most of the time it Does Not say Never (or whatever to the same effect). Sometimes even taking the test will let you know if you want to do HITs similar to that or not.
For castingwords, search for castingwords PPT in qualification and just request it. You'll be granted 80 which is the minimum to work on hits.
