So...if there's an audio file that's only three seconds long and there's nothing recorded, but you can tell it's a part of a larger recording, what do to? I looked in the style guide and didn't see anything for it.
I guess it depends on the requester Claritrans says bbb for blank audio. SpeechInk says [pause] for anything over 10 seconds, not sure about blank. Casting Words says [silence]. Might wanna check with the requester. I did one for ClariTrans yesterday that had some music and a brief exchange in a foreign language, I transcribed iii fff iii , and was approved with a 4; easy money!
Whimsy, If it's for CW, be very careful because their system will sometimes give you a 7 or so on those with dead air, but then again, sometimes it won't. They have a report a problem link in the top right-hand corner to report these so they can be pulled.
Thanks for the help. It was for SpeechInk. I took the test last week for Home Inspection stuff (and passed) and saw they had some hits up today. Silence. I wasn't sure if it could be considered a pause since there was nothing to bookend it. I did write them, haven't heard back yet. I only did the one and skipped on the others. Four cents for a couple of seconds of audio, I just figured they'd help build my base score in case I fubar something up later. I don't remember which requester it was a couple of weeks ago - I did a transcription for a 6+ minute clip. It was a crowd talking and then 30 seconds of the speaker. That was easy money =)
