Greetings to everybody! I'm new to Mturk and my account is yet to be validated after 48 hours. So, I've tried to contact Mturk through their email address and no reply yet regarding to my question. I've read some threads online about how Mturk works and I totally understand about the system. The other question that keeps bogging me is that; how does Mturks pay workers from the Philippines? Again, I've read some threads about it and they said that Mturk doesn't pay through paypal or credit card...instead, they convert it into Amazon.com gift certificate and you can only use these cert. to purchased items from them...meaning, you can't get real cash. So, for example you've done a lot of hits for a year and then finally you've earned $2K+....and then you want to purchase something from Amazon.com like; a MacBook Pro 2012 for example...possible? If it is...then I'll only be paying for the shipment, right? They said that you can only purchase things like an ebook or a software? If that would be the case...then it's not worth my time. Since, I don't need this kind of stuff. Buying it out of Amazon.com then re-sell it? Not my thing. After all, I still need some information. Regards, - Tin Man

Pretty much. I have to use the gift cards, and I have bought a lot of goods from Amazon. You can not use them to buy other gift cards, nor can you transfer them to another person. I'm not sure about about non-physical items, but definitely any other products. I have the advantage of living near the US border, so I have my stuff shipped within the US and a drive over to pick it up - just be careful of shipping because not all vendors will ship to your area.
Just so you know, OP, since Amazon isn't accepting workers who live outside the US (since July this has been true), they may never accept your registration but turn you down instead. Sorry to be the bearer of that news.
I've just received my email recently and here is the message; "Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk, We have completed our review of your Amazon Mechanical Turk Worker Account. We regret to inform you that you will not be permitted to work on Mechanical Turk. Thank you for your interest in Mechanical Turk." Thanks for nothing Mturk... Any recommended sites like Mturk?
