Agreed. The more I work with one of the other transcription requesters in particular, the less and less appealing SpeechInk jobs are to me. They really do not seem willing to pay well.
Which other transcription places do you use? I don't really know of any. I didn't like how the other one was set up, castingwords. I'm new to this so I don't know of any others. But yes, I'm definitely getting worked over with speechink.
I didn't realize they were in a video. I figured she had a hard copy of the PP slideshows that she was sending out first before the video came along. and CW is wayyyyyyyyyyy better. I've been working with them for years and years and years now and the pay is pretty fair. By the way, if you download Express Scribe, you can download their audio and then use hotkeys to start and stop, kind of like how Speechink does it but it's outside of the actual hit.
Can you share with me too? I've been transcribing for a few years now and I have never seen anything pay close to $3! I'm finding myself working 10+ hour days and would love to make more money so I can cut that amount of work time in half.
I told this from the client's point of view, not from worker's. But the workers would get anywhere between $ 1 and $2 which, I assume you're already earning. This rate[$1 to $2 ] covers all the timestamps and tags.
Nooooo, dont' pay for it. Get the free one. I've used it for years and have never had problems with it and it does everything I need it to do, even for "real" transcription work outside of Mturk. No one on MTurk, it's true, gingery. But if you've been doing it for years, have you seen the comments I previously made on page 1 of this thread? I would hate to see your skills be undervalued.
Does anyone have any new input about whether these video tagging transcriptions are worth the time they take? I just got an email saying I did well on the test, and I'm trying to decide if I want to do them or not. It looks like the consensus was maybe not so worth it?
