Admittedly I am a computer idiot. My son and hs wife each had their own laptops and we have wireless internet. Don't know if that makes any difference or not in how they can determine (if they can) where the person is working from or whatever. I'm probably not even wording this right because I really don't know what the heck I'm talking about..doh!

Well said. I too never looked at it from that point of view. I don't know how it's working in my case, but if ever had there arouse such need and had I knew how to do it, yet I wouldn't have done it thinking that it's morally incorrect to reset the connection for new IP address just for the sake of money. However, if ever such question arises now I won't mind doing so, thanks to your eye-opener comment. That very well displays your broad-mindedness and understanding. Your guidance is proving to be very beneficial, thanks loads for that.

It looks to me also they don't really pursue those who brake the rules and the rules are there just formally.

Are you sure about what you say about them running the script from time to time? Do you think they check ip locations or just they run check for same ip/users ? I saw folks stating that they post HIT's as requesters from foreign countries and go with it without ban. They pay for and get the job done for months.. Would it be possible then for me to open up USA account on a friends (friend from USA) name and all his info (he would open everything for me, just give me the username and pass), and I could use it from Serbia?? What do you think about that? I know it look shady but it looks possible to me, what you experienced guys think?? Any experience with this?

American workers aren't allowed to work from another country, so I'm thinking there would be problems with this.

Of cource they don't. So the money wouldn't leave U.S. But that wasn't the question...

I know this thread is super old, but I just wanted to add the reply I received.

    Hello Alexander,

If another member in your household wants to use the Amazon Mechanical Turk program, they're welcome to do so as long as they have their own e-mail address and bank account.

No single individual can have multiple accounts, but multiple individuals can work from the same IP address. If we find that multiple accounts are owned by the same person, we'll suspend the accounts.

I hope this information helps. Thanks for your interest in Mechanical Turk.

Thank you for your inquiry. Did I solve your problem?

  8. My friend, I don't know whether some people are just making non educated guesses, but I've we've had an account in my name and one in my girls name and never had a problem. However, we use VPN, Amazon WILL NOT block you for you both using the same IP address. I'm speaking from personal experience my friend, not an uneducated guess. This person at Amazon told you right, however, if you ever link one banking account to one account, the system will give you the boot in a heart beat. If you are from India, and still able to Turk, I highly suggest you not to use multiple accounts, because being from outside the US, I doubt you will be able to get another account. Amazon has made a lot of change to their policy over the past few months. If you read their current policy, it states they are now taking no other applicants other then US citizens. Hope this helps.

  9. I'm glad you got a hold of someone that actually knew what they are talking about. Instead of hearing a thousand different things. This Amazon rep is speaking the truth. There is no problem using multiple accounts from one IP, however, link the same bank and see what happens.

  10. My point exactly. That's what I don't understand. Mturk doesn't even allow people outside of the US, and he's thinking about having multiple accounts. He must have paid big money for someone's identity and a set up with a US ip address.

Please provide a link to this current policy if you are going suggest people should read it.

There seems to be no mention in the Amazon Mechanical Turk Participation Agreement:
    https://www.mturk.com/mturk/conditionsofuse

There seems to be no no mention in the FAQ:
    https://www.mturk.com/mturk/help?helpPage=main

As a point of contradiction, the Amazon AWS page states, and I quote:

    (emphasis mine)

    ref: http://aws.amazon.com/mturk/

    Anyone?
