I think my bank just charged me $5 for the payment transfer from mturk. Does it come across as an ACH? If it is going to cost me that much, there's no point in continuing because I don't always have even $5 to transfer and will be losing money. Any helpful information is appreciated.

It still gets deposited with the routing number and bank account just like before so it shouldn't affect you. If somehow it will be an issue then maybe only transfer once a month that way you'll only get charged the $5 once each month. Very weird though I wouldn't think any bank would charge for a direct deposit.

 

Who's already beaten yesterday's earnings?

 

I'm using a different bank now, so this is the first I've encountered the direct deposit from Amazon there. I'm still waiting to hear from the bank. It is really bothering me to think about how much work has to be done to reach $5, just to have it go to my bank.

That is unusual as it's been my experience banks prefer direct deposit and often wave fees for using it.

 

Set up an Ally Bank account. That's crazy!

Without knowing much at all, I'd be willing to bet that the $5 charge is not for direct deposit but for something else like a low balance fee (some accts require a certain $$ balance otherwise they charge a monthly fee) or some other type of bullshit fee. As others have said, banks will waive fees for direct deposit.

I recommend what Tara said above, that's who I've always used for turk funds. Bluebird is free and definitely the fastest method for direct deposit. Pretty sure you don't even have to go to Walmart to get a card. Just signup online and they'll mail you one. Once the DD goes through, you can go to any ATM and pull out the funds, pay normal bills or add a bank account to withdraw the funds to it.
