Dimmer does not effect windows fromt he task bar. If you hover your mouse over any open windows ont he task bar they are bright as hell lol

Put in your current location as a basis so it knows when sunrise and sunset are. From there, just adjust your type of lighting and what you feel is best for you. I rarely even notice it anymore unless I look for it.
on a normal day i have somewhere around 50 tabs open in about 8-10 windows (not each/total) so alt tabbing is pretty fruitless.
