Guys, you have to report ALL your earnings to the IRS. The $600 dollar thing is when the employer/requester has to file information and send you a form, but from I've read here most will block you before you reach that amount, because they don't want to spend the time doing it. MTurk income would be added with all other income to determine your tax rate. Whether or not you can get away with not reporting MTurk income, I have no idea but it sounds risky. I think Amazon reports your earnings to the IRS, but I don't really know for sure.
Done in 9 min with a small interruption. Took the risk as the qualtrics link was for Tel Aviv University...
So, for those people who do the Agent Agent hits, you'll like this one. While I turk, I watch videos and review apps on AppRedeem/AppTrailers, and today, one of the apps I had to review? Slots Journey! They went with the Indiana Jones theme. How are you guys doing? Oh, and if you want to sign up for AppRedeem & App Trailers, you'll need a iPhone or Android.
Took about 4 minutes. I accepted the hit a bit into the survey to ensure time. Didn't need to. It was quick and easy!
Eh, I better run off to the gym. Might be back tonight to earn some more. Only at $10.56 for the day. Thanks again for the info on the Matchett HITs!
True. But to report any income, don't you have to atleast make $9,000? Let's say turking is someones only source of income. I don't think you have to report it unless you make $9,000. However, if you make money from elsewhere that exceeds $9,000, you'd have to report it. I wouldn't actually know though. That's just what I've heard.
I love the agent agent hits and can't wait to see the icon choices on the market. It's a slow day, but I'm finding some decent surveys paying .50-.75 that are starting to add up. Nothing great that hasn't been shared though... What's your return on app trailers? I have it installed and haven't really picked it up much.
Anyone have any experience with Applied Technologies? They have a batch up that I am tempted to try, but the reviews are mixed. EDIT: Forget that. I checked out the batch and it doesn't seem to be working well and the description doesn't really explain much. I'm gonna just stay away from this one.
I read on the MTurk site somewhere that if you make over $400 for the year that they will mail you the correct form for you to file when you do your taxes (Can't remember the name of the form).
hey how do i get a message to a requester if i can't find the hit anymore? i got his id from turkopticon... EDIT: nevermind, got it from my pending hits in the status screen
bahahaha 1 cent rejection from copytext... no idea what i did wrong though... i think maybe because i highlighted an item rather than the item group, but they asked to indicate where the first purchase was so meh...
did some earlier with no issue (already approved today), but will probably hold back since the whole european date system kinda messes with me.
It is slow today. managed to get ~6 in. Return on apptrailers is kind of low .005 per video, but some apps let you install and play around for a few extra cents. it's not great, but if my phone is otherwise sitting around while i turk, why not?
Regarding Tax Filing: It is the company that is not required to send 1099's for less than $600. This number has no bearing on your taxes or tax return. Whether or not the company sends you a 1099 has no bearing on what you file as taxable income.
I'm going to update my 3GS later and sign up. Want to PM me your ref link? edit: We can start the referral train if anyone else is interested.
Ok dudes. (From what I understand/been told): You have to report everything to the IRS. IF you make under a certain amount, you aren't taxable, BUT they have to tell you that. SO...you report you made $xx and then then you don't OWE any taxes under a certain amount. There is a slight sliver of a bracket where you don't owe- AND make enough for EIC. So you really want to report it in case they owe you a refund. =-D AND so you aren't wrong and get your ass strung up later! ;-)
