Congratulations on receiving your first cheque. Nothing to be paid to banks. The cheque will be cleared in 3 days then you can use the money.

i recieved the cheque today.. i dont have citi bank account.

  6. Congrats!
No need of city bank account. Just you go to any nationalized bank where you have an account(Better SBT or SBI). They will charge some commission. around 85 rupees if your check is below 10000 rs. You will get money in your account within minutes.

And what about if cheque is above 10000 ?
And cheque passing process take minimum two days right ? so how to possible get money in my account within minutes ??

  8. The commission will be changing for each 10000 rs. I don't remember the exact amount. But it less than 200 for Checks below 20000. If you are willing to pay some extra amount (around 50, depends on the check amount) they will give you money instantly. Otherwise it will take 3 to 5 days to get the money.

You don't need an SBI account in particular. But you must need an account in any bank. Don't you have one?

I too received my first check. I am having an account in Bank of Maharashtra (a nationalized bank). There is no city bank branch in my city. How much long it will take to get the check cleared and cash in my hands. If its going to take more than a week, is there any faster method.
