pbommanna is it possible that I could review the HITs that I did so I can add all the names I came across to the list?

Edit: Would only need to review the flagged ones, obviously.

There are literally thousands that could possibly be included in a tweet. Just keep Google search open and cut/paste the names you come across into it with the word 'Olympic' after it and make sure they are actually an Olympian and not some musician congratulating an Olympian or something like that. Only takes a few seconds and the pay rate is completely fair for having to do this occasionally.

Edit: don't forget Kobe and Lebron both were on the Team USA for basketball =]

It looks like he approved all 500 I did yesterday. I wish I was able to do more of these! 72k still available. I would tear these up like none other.

You should be aware that a lot of these shortened links are fronts for “Win an iPad” contests.

The directions clearly say "No need to follow links to see what the linked text is. "

(WARNING: Another night of 1 hour of sleep, feel the wrath of my rambling and bad jokes!)

Yes, he's been approving them, he said that he was behind because he was away from the computer. The emails he had been answering from his phone.

I referred him here(maybe why he posted?) as do I refer most requesters I come into contact with. I try to build a worker/requester relation by showing them there are GOOD forums out there. Instead of some i've heard of that instead of (like us) working together to do GOOD work, they all group together to find HITs to scam on (shame on them).

So has anyone noticed every single HIT mentions Apple?
Almost every single HIT has the word "shit" therefore implying Apple....

LOL jokes. I honestly I have..well.. had... nothing against Apple until all this nonsense about patent wars. "We have patented rounded corners! Thou shalt not have rounded corners also!!" <-- Dick heads.

But nah seriously there are so few that actually have the mentioned topics that I get nervous after some time. The requester has assured me this is natural(not many topics, not the nervousness LOL) but to be vigilant for when it does pop up.

HANDY TIP: If your on a MacBook Pro (maybe iMac?) you can highlight a name and double tap with three fingers. This pulls up the dictionary/wikipedia. So while that loads you can skim the rest of the article. Most likely if it's an Olympian it'll come up under the Wikipedia definition. It cuts time if it's one of the first names and you read the rest while it pulls up the name.

Though it says mark if it has to do with Olympics implicitly or explicitly, so in my mind, even if they are congratulating an olympian, that is mentioning the olympics. Therefore it implies the topic of the olympics.
Idk, if I see the word olympics I mark it no matter what the text, since that is implicit. I haven't had a rejection yet, though i've not done as many as you SirMasterTweetTurker

I did it sometimes anyway, if I ran across a mention of someone like Kobe or Lebron, who are famous for more than being Olympians, and the tweet was just their name and a link. Sometimes the link shows that what the tweeter was talking about is an endorsement deal or something else non-Olympics related.

Most of the links I clicked didn't lead to anything at all. They were expired. But one got me a 'your computer is being attacked' warning notice from AVG. So no more of that for me...

We've been discussing how to best do them in multiple threads. Use the board's search engine to find them.

Edited to add: Are you guys flagging as Olympic mentions tweets that say nothing but something along the lines of "Go USA"? Because I've been leaving those go, and I'm not sure I should.

Those I leave. But when I see something like UK vs USA or CA vs USA or along those lines... I assume it's meaning olympics.
That's just what i've done though they are somewhat subjective in those regards. Try asking the requester and post his response?

Yes if it is Olympic related I pick it. To me 'Go USA' by itself i do not pick. But 'go teamUSA' I will or if there is text with the 'go USA' that hints it is Olympic orientated I then choose it. The requester is very fair so you shouldn't have any problems.

I lean toward a yes vote for tweets mentioning Go USA, Go Canada, TeamGB or USA!USA!USA! because these tweets are being sent during the Olympic games. I'm using that time frame as the context for a lot of 'iffy' ones. E.g. a mention of water polo or synchronized swimming in a non-Olympic vs. Olympic time frame - to me, mentions made in the latter time frame instantly connote the games. Maybe the requester could chime in to clarify. (I'm thinking this is the gray area where outliers aren't penalized?)

Any advice appreciated so the requester can get the best results!

I have erred on the side of including them too. They can easily be further evaluated later if they are flagged.

yes, go USA should be marked

I understand that it is ambiguous and so I won't reject these, but please do mark go USA or other countries as olympics. Given the time frame, it does seem like they would be about the olympics.

And as the previous commenter astutely noticed, it is much better for me to fix it later than to miss having it marked at all - but there will be no fixing because i want to count go usa (or other country).

    Thanks!

So flag everything that even MIGHT be related, no matter how iffy it is.

Wish I'd known to do that about a thousand hits ago. :( Slapping self on forehead...

No - I didn't say 'No matter how iffy'. If you honestly believe it could be about the topic in question, please mark it. If you're not sure, ask questions.

What I was trying to say is that if you are really exactly 50-50 on it, and it COULD be about the topic, mark it

I am also rejecting submissions that have NO relation whatsoever to the topic that is claimed to be present. I'm doing research and lots of internet searches before rejecting those, but just know that I'm also not wanting too many false positives either.

Most people are doing the right thing for the most part, so thank you all for that.
