I was doing hits of imagenet today. I did about 25-30 of them. It was drawing a boundary around an image. In all the hits there were boundaries already drawn around the images. So I submitted them as they are because there was no need to draw any boundary lines. Maybe you all know how it is. He accepted all the hits. But after a few moments I tried to do his hits he had already blocked me. Now, I got an email from amazon. It states:-
We regret to inform you that you were blocked from working on HITs by the following requester(s): imagenet
Requesters typically block Workers who submit poor quality work.

Requesters rely on Mechanical Turk for high quality work results. In order to maintain quality, we continuously monitor service activity. Should additional Requesters block you in the future, we may suspend your account. Please ensure your work quality is at a high standard. We encourage you to read the HIT instructions and follow them carefully.

Please help me out with this situation. What should I do?
    Thank You.

Not much can be done other than contacting the requester and asking politely about this.

That's what I did. I asked him the reason for the block. But no response to it. He directly informed amazon about this. He should have warned me before doing this. I would have not done his hits at all.

That isn't really how blocks work. Most requesters won't bother 'warning' us ahead of time they just give the block. I would suggest emailing him again, politely explaining the downside of workers being blocked [ie being potentially unable to continue on mturk] and maybe offer not to touch their HITs again if he'll remove the block. Sadly there isn't much you can do when a lot of requesters don't even respond.

Yes. I will do the way you tell. I will request him very politely. Hope this works. Last time I had got a hard block from a requester whom I didn't even know and not done a single hit of his. Amazon had given me a direct hard block. I searched the requester but he wasn't there on mturk.

Yes DeepaRaj. You are right. But to my knowledge I have not done any mistake in his hits. You must be knowing what his hits are about. We have to draw a boundary line around an image. His hits had already boundaries drawn. So we had to just click the check box which say "click this if there is already a boundary drawn". He should have warned me but instead blocked me.

You should always check TO before working with such requesters. The TO review for this requester is not very good IMO. So, unless we are confident avoid such requesters and stay safe. See their review below, oflate they have rejected lot of work without any reason. I for one would never touch his HIT, he is worst then Oscar Smith in terms of pay-rate. 1 cent for drawing border around 3 images - you must be kidding. Avoid!!

Yes, I have avoided him now. There is no way that I would be doing his hits. I just saw his TO. Its not good.

You can find TO in the scripts section on the forum here and honestly it is an invaluable tool to have, especially when you're new. It makes spotting those requesters you should RUN from much, much easier.

TO is Turk Option. Here you can find the reviews about a requester. How good he is in communication, generosity, fairness and promptness. You can review it before doing the hits. Here is the link for it. Google chrome- https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dgefbojfgdddnignhmfmnencgiloojpe
    firefox- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/turkopticon/

Usually his HITs require that EVERY INSTANCE of the item in the picture have a block drawn around it. Even if it is a piece or a part of one. So if the image is of cars, every car and every part of any car in the image needs a block around it. Very few of his HITs are correct with out adding more blocks. I have not had problems with his HITs or them getting rejected. Read the instructions carefully.

    Hope this helps.

I haven't done any of this requester's HITs for a long time, but they used to post two kinds - one where you had to draw the boundary, and ones that were essentially "check" HITs where you had to determine if all the instances had boundary boxes drawn. If they're still doing that, are you sure you didn't work the latter thinking you had the former?

How many blocks should we draw for a cent? He says draw a box round a honeybee and there are already some blocks drawn. Also there are tons of honeybees which are nearly invisible. We cannot even see them clearly. Now how and where to draw the block?

I was doing the hits of drawing blocks and not the "check". I never do the check work.

I think you shouldn't do any.
He's a bad, rejecting requester and he wants to pay you less than $1 an hour.
    Just don't do it.
