Hi, I am a PhD student and I am testing a product that helps people restrict their social media usage. So I want to know how effective it is, so I designed the following a series of HITs that lasts for three weeks. You can find the detailed instruction here. What would you think about this HIT? It may seem cumbersome for the first HIT, but on average people can do it under 20 minutes and the payment is $5. Other than that, you would just need to keep the app running (of course, it may restrict social media access to 5 minutes every two hours from 9 am-4 pm) for three-weeks. At the end of each will, a new survey HIT (worth $1) will be posted and you only need 2 minutes to fill out the survey. If you completed all HITs, you get an additional $5. In total, if you completed all HITs, you will get $15. However, due to technical restriction, the participants will have to use Chrome exclusively for 3 weeks. I would really appreciate it if you could give me some of your thoughts. Thanks!
Welcome! Thanks for posting. Looks interesting. I don't install apps on my phone but there are workers that will. I'm sure you will not have any issues getting workers to do the tasks once you publish your HIT.
Pay is good, but I don't do HITs that require me to install apps. I know some workers do, so I'm sure you will workers willing to do your HIT.
Thanks for your feedback! I launched a small test HITs before, but I actually got a negative review in terms of pay on turkopticon. Since I've only run a few HITs and had no review on turkopticon before, that really hurts my reputation. Any suggestions on how to deal with this situation?
If the reviews are for a different HIT, it won't matter for this one. You have the option to respond to those reviews on Turkopticon. It'll help your reputation if you do and explain their ratings. I've seen a few requesters respond and that helps. A lot of workers don't look at turkopticon. If you're getting workers and you are satisfied with the results, you should be fine.
Thank you for the suggestions, I will try explaining it to the worker and see if they are willing to change their rating.
