This is super true. People focus on the negatives of turk all the time, but rarely do I see people talk about the advantages of it.

#1 - No commute. How much do you guys put in your gas tank just getting to work?
#2 - No lunch out. How much of your paycheck gets spent while you're at work, eating snacks or going to lunch or whatever?
#3 - Complete Freedom - Easily worth some sort of wage cut, probably different for each person. I value this very highly because I like to work in shorts and a Tshirt while listening to my music.
#4 - No limits - If you are serious about turking, you can only turk and sleep, and have money available almost immediately. How many jobs can you just pick up extra shifts whenever you want, in this economy?
#5 - Stability. Sure, the life of a turker might vary a bit from day to day based on what jobs are out there. But if you're motivated, there's no reason that you couldn't be making serious money every single day at this.

Lmaooo you saw it here first people, getting pay cut 40% on Christmas Day isn't anything bad at all. And if you don't like it, well then you're just a self-delusional entitled idiot.

Chris, PM me if you seriously want to continue this, but quit saying absolutely nothing besides vitriolic, stupid shit to try and get the last word.

is it good enough to just put the university website in the "source url" section for the rubin HITS, or should I be putting the entire google link to the course catalogue?

Entire link to the catalog. Putting the school site makes the next user have to go through the same process you did.

Update: Says can be repeated, but when I tried said no more hits, never mind...

You can repeat this one ten times as long as answers are different.

Yes, I have done so and they have been accepted. I also use ratemyprofessors occasionally and those have been accepted also.

I know this is OT, but does anyone know how to make a requester account on top of a worker account? Do I have to log out?

I suggest liberal use of the ignore feature to enhance and streamline your mturkforum experience.

The source link is the link where you have found the information they're asking for.
I wouldn't just submit the university website. I have never done it like that, I always have submitted the link where I actually found the information.
For the 0.20 HIT it helps the 0.30 HIT. Otherwise there is no reason to submit the link.

Well turk is a unique platform. It's really the first global job postings. It raises interesting political questions, and at some point there's going to be a debate about how instant globalization will affect the world marketplace. Instead of complaining about the future, I am preparing for it by making sure that I have specific marketable skills that the rest of the globe doesn't have. (At least until the start learning English as a primary language!)

because most of the people complaining about this got so vitriolic to begin with. i'm not saying it's not justified to be angry over a pay decrease, but to just endlessly drone on about something and not offer anything constructive in terms of making the situation better is really just pointless. you had your catharsis? great. i'm happy for you. nothing has changed. and i don't mean you, specifically, but just anyone who's been doing this.

first of all, the fact that it's christmas is really meaningless to me, and to many other people as well. the entire world - even this entire country - does not necessarily celebrate christmas. for many people, it's just another day except businesses are closed. so stop with the emotional appeal, that's a really cheesy tactic.

and i personally think that it's far more self-delusional to expect anything out of the mturk market than what we're getting. there. is. no. regulation. you knew this when you signed up. we're reminded of it every day when someone gets hit with an undeserved mass rejection. is amazon going to step up on that person's behalf? hell no. you are on your own. the only way to get a little help is by participating in a forum like this, and trying to work together.

so, use what little power we as turkers have to do something about it. organize a matt rubin boycott. circulate a petition to email to piazza explaining your position. or, open your eyes and realize that mturk is not like the 'real' world. there are no rules. there is no regulation. there is no oversight. make the best choices you can make for yourself and move on. i've made my choice - knowing how long each of them take me to do, screw 30 cent professor hits, but i'll still happily chug away at the course hits. at the end of the day, if you want to consider that delusional, i really don't care. as long as the money i withdraw isn't a figment of my imagination i'll be pretty psyched.

Does anyone else have problems sometimes with the copy function from pdf's? Occasionally when I copy, it will paste in old information, like it's not actually copying anything to the clipboard.
