awww thanks, but i couldn't take money for someone else's work...

i'm kind of the same way, but i think it's a good starting point. at the least, it should mean you have good grammar, spelling, sense of structure, know how to form an argument and prove it, etc., and won't be as inclined to 'break the rules' of many of the hits by writing too informally - more often than not they require a professional tone that's a lot closer to academic than informal. i found it useful to start with rewriting hits and try to strike a balance between how i would normally write and the article that i'm supposed to redo.

and from what i've seen, rejections on writing hits from legitimate requesters are nearly always because the writer didn't follow the rules - either the word count wasn't high enough, required keyword phrases weren't used, the article was full of filler or just completely off-topic, or the spelling/grammar sucked (even though the turker is complaining on TO about it you can tell from their comment that they have no clue how to write - yes i know people don't write the same way online as offline, but there are some mistakes a good writer never, ever makes, in any scenario).

this actually wouldn't be too difficult, just tweaking the hit-posting script to scrape the data from your status page as long as you have all the right other scripts (pending/projected/etc), maybe i'll give it a shot if it gets real slow this week...

A lot of time for the money, but chance for bonus. Sounds fun though :)

I was trying to look through the API, but apparently that only applies to requesters, not workers. What I was thinking is a dynamic PHP script to create an image with the stats in it, but I don't know enough about PHP to attempt it and I'm almost sure this can't be done in Python. At least not the way I'm imagining it.

nowhere near that hard, not that php+gd is hard to do... but php is server-side, so it would have to be installed on the mturkforum server, not sure what the site owners would think of that... any script that automatically updated your sig without you having to actually do anything would most likely have to reside on a server somewhere, and the signature output script in vbulletin on this server would have to be updated to receive and output the info. what i'm thinking is just a button on your status page, click, it gives you the proper bbcode pre-formatted for your sig, then just copy and paste.

You're not missing too much! I'm wading through surveys to see if there's anything worth doing.

Says 15 minutes. Will update on time when I'm finished.

Nevermind. Bad URL to the survey :( I've noticed this a lot with this Requester.

Looked at the HIT Export script. Brain felt like it was going to hemorrhage. I get the gist of it, but don't even know where to begin to modify it.

Yeah, if it says CrowdFlower, something will be FUBAR. Whether it's the link for the survey, the expected answers for the QC, or the page just returning an error whenever it feels like, something will be busted.

WTF is a baby development product? I think the fact that I have no clue means I shouldn't even look at it...

Anybody here do SpeechInk? I've only ever done verbatim transcription and the other day I did a non-verbatim that hasn't approved yet. Not so worried about no response yet, I know they take a while. I just can't stand not doing anything today.
I want to do some more of their non-verbatim HITs but without any feedback I don't know how picky they are.

Anyway, the point is other than the Ums and Ahs and a few leading words that made no difference to the meaning of the sentence I left the transcription primarily as spoken. Any thoughts on if it's safe to go ahead and crank out a few more for them before getting feedback?

EDIT: If it matters, on their verbatim hits I've always scored high 90's, around 97 or 98.

Thanks. Wasn't sure how much editing they wanted done on the non-verbatim ones and didn't necessarily want to do a ton of them if I wasn't going to get paid.

just changing the strings that the script looks for when the button is pressed, should be an xpath query or some other dom-based search, then change the output to be more appropriate for sigs. also maybe adding in some calculations if you want average or things like that to be displayed...
