Hi all! I'm new to this forum, as well as turking; just found out about it this afternoon. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem I'm having.

I didn't have an amazon account, so I signed up for one on the mturk website. I got this message after putting in my information:

I still haven't received an email. I know I put in the correct email address. So I was wondering if any new Amazon members have had to wait, and for how long.

We aren't sure. Anyone signing up on/at/around July 19th and later hasn't been approved. I'm sorry to say we don't know why and we don't know when they'll start approving accounts for mturk.

Hm. Well that sucks. This sounded like such a great way to get into online work. Oh well. I guess all I can do is wait :/

Are there any other online jobs that you would suggest to someone new in that field?

I won't suggest other places because this forum is for mturk, but there are threads that mention other places. Some of those may be best for someone with a strong skill base. There are other forums and sites that direct you to places where you can learn how to make a living online - but puh-leeeeze watch out for scammers. There's free info lots of places.

Whoops! Sorry. I forgot that in some forums it's inappropriate to ask about other sites. I didn't mean to make a no-no D: I just figured I'd ask, since I know this is a trusted community, and I would be getting real information, versus being scammed. But thanks for letting me know :]

I can tell from your posts that you write well, so I suggest Textbroker. They're super-legit, and it's nice to switch between them and mturk.

microworkers.com is another one but a lot of spam work on there (spreading links on forums and blog comments etc). Also a lot of work that needs a public Facebook profile for them to check up on. Might be worth it if you have a fake non-personal FB account.
