Hi all! I'm stopping in to introduce myself, I'm Cris. I just started turking a week ago. I have a question regarding NB the facebook links. Does anyone know how reputable this company is?

I will take the diplomatic high road and just note that reviews on turkopticon are mixed.

    Keep in mind:
    (1) If you submit a URL that he already has, you get rejected. He could already have a pile of URLs from any other crowdsourcing platform, or from his own research. Basically, he can reject anything you submit, and then claim he already had the URL.
    (2) The pay is 1¢ per HIT, 1 URL per HIT.

Personally, I would run as fast as I could in the other direction. YMMV.

Yes you are very much right my friend. That is not worth to do it. Go away from this HIT and requester.

Hi cris, Khalinov, and Riaz, I'm posting the N B Facebook link HITs, and I just wanted to clear a few things up.

First, when you accept the HIT and submit the facebook url, it checks right away to see if it's a valid url or not. If it's not valid, it doesn't accept the url and prompts you to enter a new url. If the url is accepted, you get paid. We have not yet rejected any submissions, and we've collected roughly 225,000 urls.

We are new at posting HITs to mturk, and any feedback from turkers who have worked on our HITs (or won't for whatever reason) is appreciated.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns

    I have a Facebook account
I shut it down and defriended everyone
    WHY?
because i am concerned with Privacy.
If I worked on one of your HITs or any others that ask i have a facebook account or download a facebook app
What would stop you from using my personal Real information?

Thats why I will not do ANY hits that require a facebook account

Danthony, our HITs don't require a Facebook account and they don't collect any information other than the single URL you submit. We only accept urls for facebook fan pages (pages for corporations, actors, products, bands, etc). We don't allow the submission of personal page urls at all.

If we end up posting more HITs in the future, we can make it clear that a facebook account is not required to complete this HIT.

I'm sorry that the lack of instructions/info caused confusion about this.

    Then no problem
Most of the facebook HITs I have seen though you end up having to log into your account then "like" something or download some application
I will be sure to check out your HITs

I just took a Look at facebook HITs

And yes definatly put in your description that a facebook account is not required and all the URLs you are seeking are from people with their pages listed as public

We wanted to make sure we didn't do anything like that. That sounds pretty sketchy.

We figured in a couple of seconds you could grab the ID of a facebook fan page, and submit it. If it's a duplicate, or doesn't otherwise meet the specified criteria, we don't let you submit it, and prompt for another one. We figured doing it this way you don't need to worry about your approval rate dropping at all.

    That sounds very ethical
Wish more requesters would do things like that
