Heads up. There are bugs hitting CW HITs and Workshop. The first is that when you hit the “View and Transcribe” tab, the window where the text appears shows up blank. There’s a work around where if you click the tab a second time, the text appears. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. The one that IS trouble is the second one. After a HIT is accepted on MTurk or a job accepted on Workshop, the speaker info that’s on the right hand side of the job is getting blanked out for some reason. Right now, I’m copying down that info before I hit Accept.
Thanks very much for pointing this out. On Chrome in Windows, I don't get the first bug, although the sidebar for that center tab shows up pushed all the way out to the right, off the visual margins of the form. If it's less trouble, you could also take screenshots of the speaker-names screen before you accept HITs, but yeah, either way, it's annoying. They're working on it, so let's see what happens. (Of course, less conscientious transcribers aren't as worried about using the correct speaker names, so this may not bother everyone...but a 9 transcript really should use them.) There is an interesting reason why CW's had some technical glitches in the last few days. I'll be posting about that to my blog today, and I will update here when I've done that. ETA: Post is here.
