i already told you per pm, but maybe someone else is interested in the answer, too

don`t fear it too much. read the guides carefully and stick to them. crowdsurf is a really fair requester and they only reject if you submit fraudulent work. in the beginning i suggest to pick ome short audios with good quality. this helps getting familiar with everything and boosts your rating.

you get masters if AMT wants you to have it. there is no real answer on how to obtain it, but hard work. work on tons of HITs for many requesters and achieve a high quality ratin. if you stick to this easy rule you have best chances to get masters
for your second question, just go to Settings > Edit Signature and start typing

Is my avatar not showing up for anyone, or just not for me? When I post on the forum I do not see it, but when I go to my account page it is there.

little tricks of the forum,...there is an option for an avatar and another for your profile picture. You just added a profile picture and this doesn`t show up when you post

Hi I just started last month on September 7. Still trying to figure everything out. My question right now is, how worried should I be about rejections? I got my first one on September 30 because apparently I marked a receipt as valid when it should have been marked as incomplete. Today I did three of the same HITs for p9r with one paid and the other two rejected with no reason. I'm really not sure what I did on two that got me rejected that I didn't do on the other one. Are rejections just something that is inevitable or should I be concerned about having three in a short period of time? Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Rejections happen to everyone, and I'm sorry you got rejected today.

Since one of the major ways requesters use to screen turkers for their HITs are by approval rate, rejections mean less and less as your approved HITs rise. Doing more HITs will create padding for any rejections you may come across.

As a new turker, you should be focusing on building your number of HITs, not just to pad for rejections, but also to access more and more HITs: many valuable jobs become available when you reach 1000 approved, then 5000 approved, and finally 10,000 approved, and when you have access to more HITs you have access to more money. Bella wrote a recent guide to numbers for newbies and it's still a great help.

That being said, the way to protect yourself from rejections is prevention: know whether or not a requester is likely to reject more often. And the major way to do that is using Turkopticon, or TO, which is a site for turkers to review requesters. For any requester that's new to you, you should check their reviews on TO.

Many scripts and tools have easy access to TO reviews built in, but scripts are a whole 'nother topic. Start with Monica's thread on scripts, and post in the daily Great HITs thread if you have any specific questions; that's where 99% of the forum folk hang out, day and night.

a really good answer from lunarobverse with little to add.
if a requester rejects your work without any notice try to contact them and ask them for their reasons. happened from time to time that they reject for wrong reasons or give you a chance to redo your work

Thank you both. I did send them a message so hopefully they'll get back to me soon. I've done a lot of their HITs with no problems before.

I'm considering turking to get about $20, but have never done it before. I plan on just letting this money be added to my Amazon account in the form of credit; not my bank account. Am I correct in assuming that there are no scenarios in which I would need to file this money on a tax form? Or would I need to include it somewhere when filling this fiscal year?

As far as I know you do not need to point them out yourself. Amazon updated the tax process and submit all information on their part. I posted a quote from Amazon on the forum, but can't find it while on phone.

Is there anything on my profile, or will I receive a email saying I'm out of the probation period?

99.95% sure they don`t let you know directly. just try to max out on HITs everyday and you notice when you are out of it

Hi everyone, this is my first post and hopefully not the last. I've been turking for about a couple of months and now I have about 1300 hits approved with one rejection. My question is: I'm sick of doing surveys and I want to move to on to doing batches that pay well, but most high-paying batches are reserved for a select few.. how do I get the qualifcations for these batches? I've been requesting qualifications but I rarely get an email telling me I got the qualification. Is it better if I request these quals after reaching a certain number of HITS approved, like say 5000? I'm a bit confused about how I go about obtaining these qualifications. Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you.

well, most of those batches have/had qualification HITs up. You have to to those HITs and get the qual if your work is good enough. Some of those high-paying batches have closed qualifications since like forever (TasteOfTheWorld for example) where you won`t get it. For those your only chance is to get lucky that they need more/new workers. For batches that post qualification tasks you should follow the daily thread.
There is absolutely no point in requesting quals with specific numbers.

Thank you for the reply. That answers a few questions for me. I guess I have to be a bit more patient with the qualifications.

It's not automatic. They have to verify you in the first step. I think that department makes sure you are in the United States. Once approved you will be able to make money while the Payments side does their verification process. This is the step most people have problems with in having their account deactivated. They verify you by matching up with the information that the IRS has on file for you. You will get an email letting you know. If everything matches up then you are good to go. Your first 10 turking days you are limited to 100 accepted hits (this includes submits, time outs and returns.) Once you have done 10 days with at least 3 hits per day (anyone, correct me if I'm wrong on this) then you have passed your probationary period. Good luck and welcome!
