Hello fellow turkers, just a thought hovering in my mind. Can we restart our mturk account by deleting the existing one and creating a new one with the same info? No one when such a situation may arrive? Please share your views.

I have seen nothing to indicate it's legal and have every reason to believe that it's not.

I wouldn't do it. Since you are not in the US, you wouldn't be able to get in with the new account.

I did when I first started turking. If you read the entire User Agreement, it does not specify this. It does specify similar situations. For example, if you were trying to create an account, then delete it. Then create another and think you are avoiding paying taxes, thus it would be illegal. But no it is not illegal. Or at least I wouldn't think. When I deleted my account; I emailed amazon requesting it. They have an option on their contact forum, with a drop down, titled, "Close Account." I selected this option and requested them close it. Someone from Amazon wrote back, and cleared everything, and told me if I felt like coming back, feel free to join! So, with that being said, I would say that it's not illegal. HOWEVER, if you are in India like your profile says, I would HIGHLY advise you not to.

    Hope I could help.

You might be able to get away with it if you try, because nobody noticed what you did. But it's flatly not allowed. I asked them directly and they were clear:

Maybe you confronted them in a different manner with your grammar. I politely asked them to close the account, in circumstances that I had found a Job, and would no longer be Turing. Then joined at a later time. If you bluntly asked them can you create another account, to start your stats over. I'm sure they would deem that as being unfair, and then furthermore, X you out.

On the condition that I closed my old account, and engaged in complete disclosure with them, and only then if they couldn't resolve my original issue. The why doesn't seem to matter. You can only have one account.

If they find out you've got another one, ... well, good luck to you.

There have been numerous people the past few years being completely banned if Amazon just THINKS you have two accounts. There have been people in both forums that were banned because their kid/spouse/friend also had an account and was logging in from the same IP. It took them a long time and a lot of work to prove that the accounts aren't connected. Many were never let back in.

It is very dangerous to even think about trying to open another account, and the ban is permanent.

He doesn't want two accounts. He wants one. He's going to close his, and start a new one with his name. Which isn't a good idea if he's from India anyway.

Amazon considers that two. They told me they do. It's not a good idea under any circumstances, IMHO.

tnx to everyone for your wonderful replies. I understand that just like living beings have one life, I and all others have only one mturk life with no second chance.

Considering they ask for our SS numbers I don't see how you could create a second account, if you close the account for reasons other than you have a sucky approval rate, I'm sure they would tell you that you are welcome to return if you are interested.

When you enter your SS number its going to automatically link you to the old account. Maybe after so many months of being away it resets everything to zero but I doubt if someone left today and came back on Monday that anything would be reset.
