Mechanical Turk is a great way to make some greatly needed extra cash and also maybe kill some time at work. If you really get into it you can acheive things you wouldn't believe.
I really love mturk--much better than wasting time on blogs or Youtube. I wish I could make more money...I guess I just have to keep working.
I dunno - it really feels like a sweat shop to me. I mean - .40Cents for a 500 word essay?? Think of how long it takes and how much your getting paid!! It just isn't worth it. I keep starting them and the releasing them. How about transcribing audio!! 6 minutes of audio takes forever, and I type fast!! for $1.50?!?!? Seriously??!? I'm sure I'll be hitting up Etsy instead of this... it makes me feel like my time isn't worth $hit! IMHO anyway.
I really have enjoyed MTurk in the month I have done it! No, it won't make you a millionaire, but I will be able to save enough up on here to make our Christmas this coming year a lot easier! That is the beauty of it too, you don't have to take the hits that you don't enjoy or that don't seem worth it! I have found severaly sites that I love, too, that I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise!
I think it's a great way to make extra $$, but I don't expect miracles. I know I can't make a living from it lol!
I agree it is a good way to make a little money and not just sit and stare at the walls all day when you have not much to do..
I'm kind of a night owl... this has definitely been a great alternative to playing games online or watching TV like a zombie.
Oh I do understand this , sometimes I see some of the hits and just think , who are the people accepting these. Someone must or they would not keep posting them. Most of them that I have seen are still not going to be even a min. wage pay for the U.S. but I do have to say , some can be fun. Not enough for me yet but fun never the less. I am glad to have it to do but not sure if the work would be there if they had to pay more. If you have to pay the same as you would a regular employee and not have scammers or short cut takers doing your work why would they. I do hope to see more hits that have better pay , and less $2 an hr hits lol but I hope that the economy will be better soon too. I sure havent but I do not do writing or transcription either. I do a few of the hits on a regular basis. I found with putting in lots of time each day after I took a couple of months to learn the Mturk site some of the hits and requesters. I have been able to make around $200 a month. I am sure there are people who make more. I am sure if you have transcriptiom equipment or are a speed reader you could do a lot of the hits faster. Or cheat the system or scam you could make more.
