    Hi,

I have been turking for a few months now and I am curious to know whether there is a limit of money one can accumulate in his/her amazon account until this is transferred to a gift certificate or bank account. Hopefully I intend to add up about $300 as I wish to purchase something from amazon.com but I am not sure whether it makes sense to accumulate that much risking loosing all.

    Any suggestions pls.:)

    Thanks

I would think that they'd like you to leave your money there as long as possible so they can continue to earn interest on YOUR money. ;)

As of right now, it goes like this:

You can transfer as many times as you want to an Amazon GC as often as you want, as long as it's at least a dollar.

You can also transfer to you US bank account as many times as you want, as long as it's at least ten dollars.

EDIT: one more thing, it is in your best interest to cash out as soon as you hit one of these thresholds that I mentioned, so you will never have to worry.

So if I need $300 to purchase some electronic equipment and I have $200 in my account, is it a good idea to transfer 200 to a GC now and keep on turking until I gain the other 100 and then make my purchase?

Does a GC expire ?....I may take long to gain my last 100 and do not wish to risk having a GC for 200 which expires and cannot be used after a certain amount of months.

    Thanks for your help

They don't expire, and I would ABSOLUTELY deposit the 200 into you amazon acct. now, just to prevent any unseen problems.

I have had up to $600 sitting there with no problems. Most of the time, my balance in there has been around $250, because I leave it in there until I need my next semester's books.

That's great that you've had no problems, that's the way it should be all of the time, but unfortunately, I have had too many people tell me personally at the site I spend most of my time on, that there have been more than a few instances, where accounts have been frozen, so I was just offering a suggestion to play it safe, rather than possibly losing some cash.

Morissey... ooh, that's a bit worrying. I hadn't connected with any other turkers before tonight, so I'd never even thought about it. I suppose it's best to know that others have had problems... perhaps I could rethink my habits...

Paypal will never be an option, since Amazon just started it's Amazon Payments System.

I spend very little of my money on Amazon, so I just sweep it to my bank account whenever I have enough to do so. But as long as you're good about computer security and make sure you keep your OS up to date with the latest patches, keep computer viruses off your system, and don't fall for phishing attacks, it should be pretty safe to leave your money with Amazon. Also, make sure you don't piss Amazon off somehow (eg., by Turking from more than one account) and get yourself deleted.

Amount gained after hits are accepted aren't in my Amazon account already? When I log in my Amazon account, I see my account balance so money is already in my amazon account , right?

I'm european so the only option is to transfer into Gift Certif. and shop at Amazon.com and merchants there. Therefore, if I am understanding correctly, best thing is to obtain GC for my amount to be used later (even after months) since this is better than to leave amount in my amazon.account.

Yes, for you, even though you see it in your account, you should still transfer it to GC right away, since that is all that you can do anyway being in Europe. I'm not trying to spook anyone, but as I have already said, over the years, I have heard plenty of people that have had their accounts compromised, but that is harder to do if it's already in a bank account of transferred into a GC.

I haven't tried to move any money and I am not really sure how to do it. Of course I've only just make $10.00.

Oh god, OP please move that money to a bank account ASAP! It would suck so much if something happened to mturk's database and you lost all that money!

I researched the issue and have found people sharing stories of being banned and accounts frozen too.

yes. you can keep $300 on amazon.com without any worries. Because I added my bank account after I earned $350. This took me three months to do. It is very secured.
