Are there any assignments (or requesters) that pay as well as the top-tier writing hits that I should put on my radar?

I was rejected for top-tier writing and so far the writing assignments that are available outside of top-tier seem quite lackluster.

Many, many words for exceptionally low reward.

Doesn't seem like Mturk is at all lucrative if you fail the top-tier test.

That's the way I felt too. I have had the qualification for about a month. Never wrote professionally before this. Just school papers, technical writing for work and such. The important thing to remember is to write in the present tense. Don't use "will, can, should, would". You won't get rejected. They are very good at giving feedback until you get into the grove. Congrats on the qualification - you'll do just fine.

No, not for writing. A majority of the other requesters don't even pay a penny a word. It blows. I did a lot of summaries of blog posts or news articles but the pay really sucks.

If you head over to write.com, you can take their test again. The thing is - there is NO PAY involved, whether you pass or not. If you pass, you get a qual (or more than one). Denied? You can try again later. I'd say wait for a title to an article that interests you. Be sure to write in the present tense, second person, have headings and a good flow to the content. No grammar or spelling mistakes. I usually write in notepad and then pop the article into Word for a quick review. I make sure my spelling's okay and then check for words like 'can' or 'will'. I take those out by reworking the words, read again, then submit.

And hold my breath. Because turnaround time isn't exactly stellar right now.

I was unaware the test could be retaken.

I'm a creative writer, but I supplement that with the article writing and marketing fodder.

I passed the write.com test back in December (or November?), but when I came to Mturk, I took the qualifier for the top-tier stuff and was rejected.

I'll take your advice though. Will wait for another test to come around that might allow me to perform better.

Hi everyone, for the new "20 Word Summary of a Web Page," I brainstormed a lexicon of "action verbs" to keep myself from being overly repetitive. I figured I'd share with anyone who is interested:
Passive Input (for sites where you take in information, but don't have an interactive element):
Learn, Inform, Read, Discover, Find, Get, Know, Check, Educate, Diagnose

Active Output (sites that have an interactive element):
Ask, Inquire, Express, Demand, Develop, Write, Compose, Create

Feel free to add on with your own action words. Thanks!

I think I'm going to try just doing a hit from each of the groups as I find something interesting while waiting on my first approvals, cast a wide net and all that. They got back to me on my qual test within ~36 hours, so I'm hoping a quick turnaround will happen on the other stuff, too? In your experience, is it better to focus on one hit type, or to do multiple kinds?

TurtleTape I haven't even written in all the categories yet. I really like the Briefing Articles and have done a few step-by-step. I usually look for interesting titles and go from there. Do whatever feels comfortable for you. I don't think there is a right or wrong way.

Got the Top Tier Writing Qual 3 days ago now, I've submitted 4 articles so far. I'm just holding my breath until they get graded because right now I have no idea what they're looking for.

Is crowdsource pretty good about accepting work without needing too much editing/rework or will I have to go back over the stuff I've submitted?

Also 25 articles in a week seems pretty crazy to me at least, does anyone know how quickly they pay the bonus?

They pretty much accept everything. At least that's been my experience. If they see problems, they give you pointers to fix them in the future. I think they're pretty nice about it too.

I am working on the 25 articles this week for the bonus, so we will see how quickly that comes after Saturday/Sunday. I wrote 5 on Sunday (the first day), 2 Monday, 3 Tuesday, 2 Wednesday. I plan to do 2-3 tonight, 3-4 Friday, and the rest on Saturday. Because I work full time and have 3.8 kids (pregnant), I don't know how often I'll be able to actually complete all 25 articles in a week. However, I do go on maternity leave in a month, so I hope they still offer the bonus then when I should have a bit more downtime.

Once you write the article, you're done with it. The graders review it, and if the article scores high enough in all categories, then it is ready to be published. If not, the editors fix it up. Or if it's really terrible, CS lets you know. If you write a lot of unfixable things, they just take away your TT qual. But after you send in the text, you don't see it again.

I got the bonus the first week it was offered. The whole thing was a bit wonky because the acceptance time on the HITs was crazy delayed. I was still waiting on acceptance for like 9 articles, but I woke up one day and they were all approved and I had the bonus. Makes me wonder if CS just instantly approved people if half of their articles for the week were decent.

This week, though, some of my articles are getting approved within a few hours of submission, so it looks like they're back to normal.

I've given up after 3 or 4 tries for the Top Tier. I just get Junior writing each time? Anyone have any tips? I thought my article was flawless.

So basically it seems like this is a pretty ridiculously good gig compared to just about any other Turk HIT? Like it seems there's no reason for me to bother doing anything else assuming I can put aside an hour or so at a time to write an article.

That's pretty much what I discovered. If you have TT, you should put your effort into those articles.

On another note to any TT writers...are you starting to get articles approved? I have a lot that are still pending, and I haven't had any approved from yesterday (out of 2). This is the slowest approval rate/day so far. It's kind of driving me nuts!

I've actually seen a much faster turnaround time on my approvals. All of my articles from the past week were approved. My single article from yesterday was approved within a few hours of submission. I'm only waiting on the three submitted today.

I have two pending, one from yesterday and one from the day before. I had a smaller 125 word one that I did yesterday that was approved today, but I think it was junior writing qual, not TT. I'd really like to get my two big ones approved.

I have 8 pending just from this week and more from last week. It's starting to worry me that maybe something's wrong with my writing. Paranoia...

I wonder if it has to do with the types of articles too. Mine are mostly "dos and don'ts" and the ones with links. How about yours that are getting approved quickly?

Are either of you going for the bonus? Maybe they are focusing on approving people who look like they are trying to get to 25. I've written 15 articles so far this week and I'm just waiting for the four from today to be approved.
