so noob question: do most people get deeply into turking and then burn out and quit, or are there a ton of people who've been doing it longterm?
Good morning ppl, anyone bracing for the storm thats going to hit the northeast this week like me? i better get my turking in now because i may be without power this week depending how bad the storm is.
I'd imagine there's plenty of people on this forum where turking is their only source of income and or it helps pay for the odds and ends, Burnt out? I guess that all depends on how you go at your turking if you're sitting at a screen for 12 hours a day I'd imagine you will quickly. Take breaks go out spend a little bit of your money you earned etc etc getting burned out shouldn't be a problem.
Some people can live off of crumbs or have nearly no expenses aka live with mommy or sister etc etc. But I've seen people on here make 50-75 dollars a day on here pretty consistently.
okay, so how the heck do you get to that point? just constant surveying? doing the transcription ones that take two hours?
Ya know, I just started a week ago, but it's pretty easy for me to make $10 a day. I think if I HAD to support myself on solely turking I could. It would be a hell of a lot of work though. Once you reach 1000 hits and get qualifications though, you should be able to increase how much you make by quite a bit.
Indeed I've already Today's Projected Earnings $9.15 for todays earnings and it's almost 7am here just did a crowdflower batch and 2 surveys roughly an hour an half worth of work.
Mp id suggest you do this batch now it's easy and will get your rating up. Requester: Catalog Choice Copy and Paste Data into Web Form
Wow I completely mistimed that! It was loading very slow for me and the middle part with the faces took quite a while of staring at random faces lol. About 22 min for me.
For some reason the buttons on the surveys aren't working for me today. I've had to return two so far.
That happened to me alot yesterday. It was super annoying. Also, some surveys didn't have codes. Just took another survey that didn't give me a code.
It seems like most people here use Turking money as supplemental income. There was a poll a while back that asked how people valued the money that they make. It seemed to indicate that most people viewed the money as important supplemental income for their household. I would say there are a lot of moms raising children and see it as an effective way to get a little extra income to support the family. The last time we did the gender poll, we were sitting at about 65% women on this board. Turking is perfect for this because it lends itself well to staying at home with the family. As far as how to get to that level of income per day, it just depends. Early on when you don't have access to some of the better batches, you will struggle to get $20 per day. On weekends, you will struggle bad (but so does everyone else). The problem with MTurk is that it is inconsistent. One day you will make $70 and the next struggle to get $10. It's all about the good batch hits available that day.
