I just did about 40 hits the wrong way! The instructions said that you were to create a new username for each hit, and I've been using the same one! I am really freaking out now... are these all going to get rejected, just for that!? That would bring my approval rating to below 50%! Please help me... I can't imagine why they want you to pick a different username for each hit. Do you think they'll overlook this since I put so much thought and energy into each one, definitely going above and beyond?

What sort of HITs are these? They're not having you set up accounts on their behalf on various sites are they?

You could contact the requester and let them know what happened, hopefully before they issue rejections. A little preemptive communication can go a long way.

Okay. Thanks for the advice. Is this a good message to send them?

Hi, I recently completed a large number of hits on your behalf... I would like to apologize, for using the same username each time. I did this because I wanted to make it easier to identify me and did not realize until afterwards that this went against the instructions. I ask that you please accept the hits, as I feel I did a thorough job and went above and beyond what was expected for the work. Thank you very much for your understanding.

I would leave out the thorough job, above and beyond part if I were you, since while you may have worked hard you didn't meet the terms of the instructions.

It's hard to predict. If they were really cheap HITs and if it doesn't really matter that the usernames were all the same, they may let it slide. If they were paying a little more, they may not feel like being that generous. Either way, hope you let us know how it goes.

    Okay, so just this?

Part of me thinks I shouldn't send it as they might not even be looking that closely.

It's a gamble. I don't know what to tell you. I'd be inclined to contact them myself because even if it may not prevent rejection, it could mean the difference between getting blocked or not being blocked by that requester. Then again, it could backfire and get you blocked.

PM me the requester name if you want, maybe they're someone I know, though I doubt it from the details you gave about the task.

If the HITs were worth enough, you could tell the requester you are willing to redo the HITs correctly.

If it was a requester wanting Craigslist posts, I think you may be out of luck :(
    But keep your fingers crossed!

Another hint is not to do so many until some are approved. Make sure the requester actually pays before you invest a lot of time in it.

I first would be very wary of anyone wanting different user names for anything. This sounds like a scam and a spammer. I hope for your case it isn't. However I would be very careful as they are asking for different names. Usually what they do is get you to do all of this and register these names and then they are out sending spam emails from these accounts. You never know who is using these accounts. Please from now on watch out for scams and spammers. I remember hearing about a guy getting arrested for sending all that spam email. I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone at all.

Actually, it's no big deal. Everyone makes an error. I too submitted wrong info for a HIT just a few days ago. Instead of username, I put URL in the text box provided in the HIT. I realized it a few hours after I'd submitted that HIT & hence, was ready for a rejection. Fortunately, the Requester was lenient enough to approve it (I assume because the username was included in the URL).

I know it's 40 HITs in your case, yet there's no need to worry. Just wait & watch for the results. Maybe they'll all get approved if the Requester is lenient enough in your case, too. Results might be something you'll love or hate, but you'll only get what's stored in your fate.

Finally, let us know whether the results make you :) or !!!

    ERRORS CAN HELP YOU LEARN,
BUT THEY MAY NOT ALWAYS LET YOU EARN.
    SO, ENJOY & HAVE FUN,
    FOR WHAT'S DONE IS DONE.

I ran through 75 hits once without realizing the state field on the search form I was using wasn't updating. I contacted the requester, apologized and told him/her to reject the hits. I never heard anything back, but about two weeks later the hits approved and I received an email stating I had received a new qualification. Hmm, I didn't request a qualification. Turns out the requester created a "Trusted Workers" qualification and included me in it. Now I'm only 1 of 10 workers qualified to do their hits.

So, yeah, sometimes it pays to contact them.
