In all honesty I don't think we will ever get an honesty answer from anyone. Just quite a bit of legal double talk. So I just say pffttt to all of it.
No, they flat-out own it. It says so really clearly in the whois page, and it also explains a bunch of other stuff, like Spammy's newfound obsession with posting Amazon "deals.". Really, Occam's razor is appropriate here. This is just exactly what it looks like.
Late to the thread (by a year), but Turkopticon does not run on Amazon web services but Amazon Technologies registered Turkopticon.com. They point it to a domain squatting site. It used to point to us and we didn't know who had registered it as it was anonymous. Then Amazon became the registrant of record and now it points nowhere. So it is clear that Amazon is at least picking and choosing whose domains it will treat nicely. TurkerNation.com points straight to the forum.
