Hi, We Indians never pray for a single person's or single nation's happiness. We want happiness for the whole world.

    Germany also?

    Hey,

I wanted to register on the Mturk but after the approval process it was denied. Do they have any restrictions on Germany?

Since somewhere around July 17th, no one from outside of the USA has been accepted as a new worker on Mturk, as far as is known. Nowhere and that includes Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East...

Why? No one knows and Amazon Mturk has not issued any explanation. So all the nonsense about scammers, spammers and other nasty you-all-deserve-it rumors are just that: rumor-mongering nonsense. Maybe someday the powers-that-be will explain the reasons behind their new policy. Or maybe not.

I am also from India and my Hit approval rate is (96.7%) I am working part time on mturk along with working on a full time job since two years , last month I tried to make an account for my wife and a friend but both time I got the reply "Unfortunately, you will not be permitted to work on Mechanical Turk. Thank you for your interest in Mechanical Turk." ,So I think they are not accepting new workers from India which is very unfortunate. In my view just refusing somebody based on the geographic location is not at all fair , now I think I 'll wake up someday and may found my account terminated :D

    Approved AND refused

i am located in Jamaica and created an American account for my sister and got approved no problem. Amazon payments asked for the social security number and i gave her the login details to deal with that. When I tried to create an account for myself I got the standard:

We have completed our review of your Amazon Mechanical Turk Worker Account. Unfortunately, you will not be permitted to work on Mechanical Turk. Thank you for your interest in Mechanical Turk.

Jamaica is an English country, so that didn't affect it.
I was wondering if I should have changed my ip address before I applied.

    Problem in mturk

    Hi,
I'm also received this msg 3 times cos I have tried to be a member 3 times.

    "Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk,

We have completed our review of your Amazon Mechanical Turk Worker
Account. We regret to inform you that you will not be permitted to
work on Mechanical Turk. Thank you for your interest in Mechanical
    Turk."

As I saw in the forum they are trying to block indians but I'm not an indian. I'm a Sri Lankan. I don't know why they doing that so. Can someone please explain me that.
    Thank you.

It's not that their not allowing workers from Mturk. Their not allowing workers from outside the United States period. It states this directly in the new Policy, if you read it before you signed up. That's why you always read the blue print before you sign your name to something for future reference. ;)

And do you have a link to that “Policy” ?

The Participation Agreement says no such thing.

The Worker FAQ says no such thing, either.

If you are going to refer people to some “Policy” that they are supposed to read, you should also be able to direct them to it.

I'm in the United States virgin islands (st. croix) , and I was hoping my wife could work from home with mturk, but unfortunately they're not allowing applicants - even from the United States virgin islands to join. She was so disappointed when she was denied. I hope they at least un-restrict applicants the U.S. virgin islands in the future.

Or maybe i'll just move to florida :p

I would be willing to bet this is due to her residency status. In my brief research it seems that if you are bona fide resident of the US Virgin Islands than you do not pay taxes to the US Federal Government.

thanks j0sh, yea we don't pay taxes on items like in the states. I also think it's due to the residency status. You really have to be in the united states to participate in Mturk. The day I move out of here, i'm going to try to join mturk. In the meantime I'll try to find alternatives for my wife online.
