I have noticed there are a few requesters asking for writing material and from my perspective are paying a nominal fee that is not worth the time. It is unfortunate as I would be happy to write for them if they were willing to pay for what they are asking for. Mturk almost needs to set a minimum for writing assignments.

I agree. Fifty cents for a 300 word article is real low. I mean, I know the prices here are low compared to a 'real' job, but come on. That is ridiculous. I just skip them. There are some that offer bonuses and such and I do go for those sometimes. It all depends on how much time I have.

One time, no kidding, I saw a 10,000 word article posted for ONE PENNY. Naturally, it sat there for weeks, and I have always wondered if the person must have entered the reward amount wrong.
But, overall, I do understand what you're saying, it's true the pay can seem rather low for the amount of work involved. If I do them, it's generally ones where I can earn a bonus.

You know, I never would have compared prices on HITS to what an actual writer might make for a professional article. I definitely agree that $.50 is low for 300 words but if it was posted for $3.00-$5.00, i would have done it for sure. But if i look at it from the professional writer viewpoint, 5 bucks is still pennies for an article. Since i'm not a professional writer, i think i would still take $5 for one article. For a 10,000 word article, i would hold out for way more which probably doesn't happen too often. Can't win...

yeah that's frustrating but there really isn't much you can do except "skip" and move on to something more lucrative.

It's really down to you to figure out what is worth your time.

I agree with you all.I think it is sad that some of these people who use Mechanical Turk the requesters do take advantage of the site IMO anyhow..I to have seen jobs that they want this many words for .30 cents or something..We work hard on here as anyone else and some of us like myself are stay at home moms who work on the side but like to make some extra money who doesn't want to.My hubby works on Rent A Coder and some times even he sees requesters making posts for jobs that should pay more..

I really enjoy writing.. so I don't always mind doing it for low amounts of cash. It would definitely be nice to get more though! If there were like a minimum of .50 cents per 100 words or something, that would be cool. I'm a good writer and it'd be nice to feel more appreciated for it.

This irritates me so much, when they ask for 300+ words for pennies. It's just such a waste of time, and is such an undervaluing of the work. I mean, I understand we're basically paid to do grunt work, but it's just sad that they try to pay us peanuts.
