Aw, Dreamtime, that's really sweet of you. Thanks. I was hoping it was just a mistake, and yeah, I can totally see how that might have happened, with having to swap computers (like, to open the Kindle book to quote it? :) )

Hey, shreyas! Thanks for doing that legwork. One reason I don't do research with the goal of proving one thing or another, though, is that it makes you tend to interpret the results in the way that you want to see. I think that's what happened here.

Based on how you worded your question to James, and on how he responded to you, it sounds like he thinks you are asking whether 5 is an actual grade. He is telling you that the highest grade is a 4, and he is *not* addressing whether they still use 5's, probably because he does not consider a 5 a grade. And that's what I've been saying: 5 is not a grade, but Claritrans still uses it as a rating.

Most important, the OP on this thread just started doing transcription at the end of December, 2012. That's about two and a half weeks ago, but he says above that he has gotten a 5. So, Claritrans definitely has not discontinued giving 5s as scores. :) They've still been giving them within the last few weeks.

They have a reputation for being inconsistent in matters like this, so I'll be keeping the 5 information. I believe it's going to keep popping up.

Yeah, Kindle for PC rocks! That's how I was able to cut and paste from your book to my post. Again, I really apologize for not crediting your amazing book "Cashing In On Transcription, Turk Style" when I did that.
