You will go up and down with him. I've emailed him a few times with questions and he is very reasonable and gets back to people within a day. Just watch your accuracy on his HITS, that's what he want....ACCURATE work. If its a foreign address and you don't know how to put it in correctly, return the HIT and leave it for someone else. That is where most mess up...guess work lowers your score.

I understand what these Rubin HITs want, however, I don't know where to find the Admin information it's asking for. And I don't agree with the 40 minute timer at my current pace.

by clicking show images I think you are making yourself vulnerable. I could be wrong though. I would rather be safe than sorry. $1 isn't worth the risk to me.

That was a comment from a reader, not the author of the post. We don't have a bad rep, but people get the wrong idea. The commenter was exaggerating about 30 seconds, but in a sense does have a point. You should put in your full effort before putting in n/a.

In my personal opinion, calling us scammers was completely unwarranted. I put in 100% effort on each and every HIT I do, and I know others here do the same. That being said, I don't speak for everyone.

We don't have a negative reputation as a forum, but some requesters mistakenly believe that forums are hotbeds for cheating. I have been in contact with a few requesters, and they have a completely different view now.

I'm going to shrug off that comment, because it is exaggerated. It's unfortunate, but inaccurate. It does, however show you that people are watching, and you should be careful what you post. Do requesters or even forum outsiders want to see drug talk ("I'm stoned off my a** right now"), or name calling? It makes the community as a whole look immature, and gives turkers a bad image. In some cases, it even scares requesters away, hurting us as a whole.

A month or so back, I had the opportunity to contact a requester who had to reject submissions for invalid codes. I don't know if it was a glitch or not, but the requester proved it wasn't an error on her end. She was called an idiot, a retard, and even a b*tch. She has since relied on other sources to gather her survey responses, and it is all quite unfortunate.

Thanks for your insight! I agree, I think a lot of the requestors misunderstand the purpose of the forums, and also get confused because there are forums that are built around scamming (the Pakistani gaming forum that was outed earlier this year iirc). And I agree with your point about the more immature OT harming the image of the community as a whole.

But, it was the author or the post/blog who said that ("Frederick"). And the other person he is talking to in the comments is an arrogant TN person agreeing/parroting that opinion.

I've been turking since 2010, and used to go on TN a lot before it was closed/changed, so I was just wondering if that post was referring to some specific impression or just annoying TN kibitzing.

The info they want for these seems a little difficult to find. Some of these were posted recently, very late at night, and I was just too tired to try to figure out the trick to finding the information quickly enough to make them worth the time.

about the rubin hits - sakai is the generic name for the educational software platform that he's looking for at these schools. it's like blackboard and many of the 'generic' systems we were in for the course and professor hits. he wants the name of the system the school uses (ex., i just did uc santa cruz and it was called 'ecommons'), sometimes it's just 'sakai' but often it's something else, rebranded by a third party developer that expanded on the basic functionalities of the program. then he wants names and emails for people involved with running it. having done a bunch the other morning and looking at them now, i'm not finding good information for most of them. the best strategy i can think of is find out what the blackboard/sakai/etc. system at the given school is called, find out which administrative (not educational) unit runs it, then take a look at that unit's staff list and see if it has any corresponding titles listed. i think i've only run into one school out of a few dozen of these that i've done that actually had the same titles and organization as he's assuming. some have been quite a bit of work to dig up but are there if you can decipher the school's IT dept's organizational structure, but in many cases i could find one, maybe two contacts at best, and for quite a few of those i found none...

EDIT: remember, you're not looking for the academic IT department, but the administrative unit. this is much more the business side of academics than the... err... academic side of... umm... academics...

I'm gonna try 2 or 3 to see if I can get the hang of it. I doubt I will. I got a few of the details for one of them, but couldn't locate any names.

I did some of Rubin's $1 ones a few nights ago, none have approved yet, and I even got one for the college I go to and it was still difficult to find all the information, I'll let them pass for now because so far I've never even submitted an N/A to Rubin, and don't want to lose the opportunity to work for him.
