    Hit requester- Duke Writing 20

Hit name- ocean acidification awareness survey

Reason- I'm sorry, but our data indicate that you incorrectly entered your worker ID, which we need to validate our results.

How much more lame can you get?
My ID was copy pasted. I know I copy pasted it because the last letter in my ID is J and I ensure that J is present in the copy-pasted content.

I was so peeved that I shot this at her.

Shown your true colors, haven't you? I gotta know you have mass rejected many people's work. Most of the forums are bitching about it. Did it ever strike you that a hundred odd workers wouldn't have entered their ID incorrectly? Did it strike you that your system was at fault? Did you know that a rejection can kill a workers work availability?Did you know that many people depend upon mturk for their living? I don't care about the 30 cents you had to pay me. Your work I did for free, I consider it as alms to you, take it.

What pisses me is approval rating going down.

Yeah, the reason for rejection was that I "didn't spend enough time on the survey" - total BS. I spent something like 20 minutes on it but could have done it *a lot* faster, but learned that lesson the hard way. I asked her to reverse it (same deal - I said I didn't care about payment, just the damage to my rating) and she wrote back that she's new to mturk and will try... That was 4 days ago, no change. To top it all off, she said that when I accepted the hit I should have read that there was a time limit (in this case 60 minutes) and that I should have known that it was there for a reason... What a scammer.

oh.. that's a good news... so requester's can reverse their hits... ie. Rejection --> Approval.. that is great.. but not all requesters doing that... :(

    Yeah, rejection reversed.

Shot this mail at her. This lady deserved an apology from me.

    Hi,

Thanks for the rejection reversal. It feels good to know that there are people who acknowledge their mistake and do take corrective action. I apologize for the harsh mails I shot at you earlier. We have had too many requesters stealing our work. A rejection affects your quality score and directly affects the work available. A lot of people depend upon mturk and a rejection can spell doom where every cent counts. Its only natural for us turkers to brand a requester scammer when its not our fault. This is mainly due to the bad experiences we have with others who intend to steal work. Again, I apologize for the earlier mails. Its nothing personal. I hope you find it in you to forgive me.

    Have a nice day.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I don't think most bother to even though it would be nice if they gave workers a chance to change mistakes, like if I make a mistake, I would happily fix it or do another one to make up for it in order to be accepted or at least to not have my approval rating drop down.

It works at times. I have done quite a few hits and I have realized I have had gone wrong somewhere. I have mailed them about it and asked them not to reject the hit. There are a few generous requesters. I have done the hit all over again and submitted.
