Dammit Athena, I knew someone would get all technical on me :0 At the moment it's not about anything... that's part of my problem. What do I make it about? I was thinking general sort of reviews about this and that, sites, products, top ten lists on various things. The main reason for getting it up and running is to have some writing portfolio work available.
Have you tried writing for examiner.com? http://www.examiner.com/About_Examiner The pay is terrible, but they let you keep copyright and let you choose subjects you're knowledgeable about and interested in.
Athena, the examiner link is very cool, but it's only available to US or Canadian residents, which excludes me and Interneteditor... Oh, well, back to the old drawing board...
Thanks from me too for posting, shame we're excluded, thanks to Maggie for posting that and saving me looking!
I can't help wondering whether those of us who want to write might find some success setting up our own outlet or business. Would anyone be interested in a joint venture of some sort and if so, can we brainstorm a few ideas (might have to find an off-forum venue for that).
I think that is what Athena was talking about..."Also, while we're here, if anyone wants to set up a workers' owned co-op for freelance writers, PM me. I'm pretty sure I know how to get business AND more writers on board AND target the 2-8 cent a word market. We could do it via mturk with a qualification system. All I need is someone serious with the resources and guts to set up an initial requester account." I PM'd her as I think others did
