I began working for Casting Words HITs two days ago, but today I notice there is a huge change in the audio quality and lots of the speaking in unintelligible. I am wondering if it would be acceptable to have a transcription which contained so much [xx] in it?
It is appropriate enough, especially since you're in the CastingWords area. According to the style guide, you aren't supposed to be marked down for legitimate [xx] marks. If I find too much I can't understand, I return (or don't accept in the first place). When the audio quality of a batch seems to be in the toilet I just skip and try to find something else to do. I'm not able to manipulate the audio well enough to give, what I feel, is an accurate transcription. I'm just worried the whole time it's going to be a bad grade.
Don't bother with rude people. It does say too many xx's can bring your grade down IF the editors can understand what is being said. If they cannot then you are fine. There are some very bad ones- I just won't do them. If the audio is bad I leave it. Even ones without bad audio can have people who mumble or get away from the mic's/recorders sometimes. You can always email support. Most of the hits up right now have bad audio. I am waiting for a few good ones.
