What's up with the avatars? Andy, can you look into why we're not able to create one?

Mine seems to work. Where are you having troubles?

EDIT: I've just allowed custom avatars for registered users.

It works now, I now feel complete, but also feel like I'm cheating on my girlfriend, by being here.

I had tried to create mine, but my attempt was unsuccessful. Later on I lost interest, maybe will try it again.

    What's an avatar? Seriously.

It's the picture underneath someone's name, like the sneezy fellow representing Andy above.

Doh! Okay. I told you, I'm no techo whiz. :)

I'm jealous that you and Sonica get to have avatars that are 100 pixels wide. For some reason, I'm limited to 80. Maybe if I had that extra 20 pixels the shadow above my lip wouldn't look like a mustache. :) (Not that there's anything wrong with mustachioed fellows.) Anyway, it's better than the other picture I considered, where I look like I'm three sheets to the wind when reduced to 80 pixels. :D

I changed it to be 100x100 for moderators now :)

Thanks! With all that extra space, I've decided I'll find myself something better to put up. Don't want my scary mug to frighten new members away. :D

Hi Ergo, hope you are happy now that Andy has increased the pixels to 100. Both you and Shego are great to put your pictures here. I do not post my pictures at any online source as I am worried about them being misused. After reading the horror stories about online scams and identity thefts, I don't' want any of my pictures to go online.

Wait, you mean that cute snowman in your avatar isn't really you? Now I feel disillusioned. ;)

I also don't do it for that very reason. It seems like we Indians are a bit extra-cautious in such matters. I don't do it even on social networks like facebook, Orkut, etc. However, many of my friends and relatives (obviously Indians), in fact most of them, are having their own photos and they even share albums too on such networks. I don't dare to do that.

Good PC. BTW, where's your avatar? I saw it, maybe this afternoon or morning (as per IST) and by now, it's gone again!!! Hope you'll upload one soon.

Well, if someone finds more success while pretending to be me than I've had while being me, then I say more power to them. :D

Here's a new one, though still my own face. I've got to show it to everyone I meet in real life, so I can't see much reason to hide it online.

I think the same Ergo. My contact details are actually registered in the whois database with this website: http://whois.sc/mturkforum.com When you own a domain you are required to provide factual information, though you could opt to buy whois-guard protection (of which I do not because it makes it more complicated for people to get in touch with you if there are issues)

I've had only minor issues with exposing this information. A few prank calls every month (from members who i've banned at my other online communities) and also someone sent me a picture of my house through a private message yesterday trying to scare me.

I want to see the one where you look drunk :) Hey, is anybody working on a chat room or chat box yet?

Well, Andy's the only anybody here as far as I know. All I do as Super Moderator is delete a couple pieces of spam each day. :)

I could probably make a Meebo room for us, but I'm sure Andy can find something that integrates better with the forum software.

You're looking at it. In color I definitely looked drunk, but changing the pic to black and white seems to have sobered me right up. :D

I will install a chatbox this weekend if there are no objections. It will be placed right under the navigation on the forum home. Looks real clean, and it's installed in my other big board (as a special 1,000+ posts only offer) but I can make it available to all here.

Hi, Andy I look forward to using the chat box, and you will many of us chattering here at odd times. I just wish to thank you, now we will not have to jump from on thread to another.

It's great, but why B/W when you have one in color? Anyways, I'm glad that you didn't say:
