I would really like to get my numbers up, I've been working steady since Feb 7, 2014 and I just hit 2,242...I only do studies and surveys though, nothing else. I would love to be able to find little quick HITs to do but unfortunately I have not found anything that catches my eye grrr (too picky maybe?!), that and I'm afraid to try new things (performance anxiety I guess lol). I still have a 100% approval rating and getting a rejection (that sticks) will put me over the edge haha, sad but true...I've had I think 3 that were the requesters fault and of course reversed (technical issues, glitches, etc). Wish I could find something that I could feel confidence in completing.

411Richmond seems like a safe one. I've done over 800 HITs for them and haven't received any rejections. If you check out the "Great HITs" forum, there are lots of veterans over there. They're very helpful and are great about sharing.

That first rejection is a punch to the gut. I'm very cautious, too, so I get where you're coming from. Check the TO and just be careful and thorough. I've been turking since June 19th and broke 4,000 yesterday.

Thanks TheMouse, I'm not sure if I have ever checked out any of their HITS or not. Yeah, I'm very thorough when it comes to things that I do...studies and surveys aren't so risky and as long as you take your time reading everything you're good. I religiously check TO and will go back months and months of reviews just to be safe. Some days I'll spend an hour or so looking at the batch type HITs and decide to try one, but then chicken out before submitting (ridiculous I know lol). I downplay my abilities and not quite sure why I do that, it's annoying to say the least. Another thing is I can't really seem to break out of the $20 or so a day range and really need to do that, it seems like when I have a day where I find the really good studies...I don't find a good amount of average ones and then days when there are lots of average ones, there are no really good ones lol...go figure. Although this week has been pretty good, submitted lots of high paying ones...even a $9 one, granted it took an hour and 15 mins...I was still satisfied. Anyways, I will see what those are all about...thank you and congrats on reaching 4,000 in that amount of time (I will get there one day...eventually haha)!!;)

Ok TheMouse, so I gave 411Richmond a try and those weren't too bad, I actually felt confident enough in submitting...I'm just on the slower side LOL. I tried the "Transcribe the Store, Date, Total, Payment information and Address from the receipt" and "Verify a single value from a receipt", both were easy and are already approved, like I just said...I just need to work on getting them done a wee bit faster:D

Hey Gatita! Come visit with us in the daily Great HITS thread. A lot of us post newbie-friendly HITs whenever possible and it's a great resource to learn from (as long as you don't mind a little goofy humor on the side).

I understand your rejection fear 100%. I'm in the same boat with almost 8k submitted, so I'm always building little safe lists of requesters who communicate well and are super easy to work with. There are a bunch of great ones on Mturk that may or may not actually be on this list (I haven't actually checked it in weeks).

Come hang out in the daily thread and post an intro or just lurk if you feel more comfy with that, and feel free to ask LOTS of questions. We're happy to help!

    Hi Morrisa:)

I'll have to check out that thread, I've browsed a little here and there and no, I don't mind goofy humor lol.

So far this morning it's been kinda slow for my normal study stuff (it's Saturday, so that's not out of the ordinary), so I've been doing the receipt stuff and no issues so far, I did have one that I wasn't sure about...so I returned it, not that I want to add returns to my stats, but better than a rejection. I need to really work on my speed, I'm not speedy in the least bit lmao...and double, triple, quadruple check things...I drive myself crazy haha, but hey...no quality issues here!

Anyways, thanks for being so warm and welcoming (Tribune also, can't forget him:D), I've never been one for forums and all that good stuff...being a newbie is like starting a new school, in a new state, mid-year LOL.

Title: Identify if two receipts are the same
    Requester: Jon Brelig [A3RRY7BIF8JDCS] (TO)
    TO Ratings:

Description: Looking at images, identify if the two receipts are the same
    Time: 10 minutes
    Reward: $0.01
    Qualifications: None

Many people hate Jon Brelig (InfoScout) because the pay is low and slow (5 days). But the penny HITs are easy enough. I've had them reverse rejections which were my fault, simply as a courtesy.

I don't have the information to post for John Roberts or Project Smarter, but they occasionally post with high-numbered batches of easy pennies. IIRC, Project Smarter has a short autoapproval time. I once accidentally did a different John Roberts HIT using the instructions to the penny HIT, and I wrote to apologize. They reversed my rejections as a courtesy (which I didn't ask for).

Also, ProductRnR has stuff besides porn. They don't pay well, but they never reject (because they pull qual instead). They pulled my qual for determining whether a video fails to display! But it's better than a rejection, or even a fork in the eye. (All their quals are autogranted on request).

Title: Label images based on their relevance for the query.
    Requester: ProductRnR [A2BAP2QO7MMQI9] (TO)
    TO Ratings:
    2.24 Communicativity
    2.70 Generosity
    3.00 Fairness

(Submit a new TO rating for this requester)

Description: Label images based on their relevance for the query.
    Time: 20 minutes
    Reward: $0.07
Qualifications: Quality score 4.2 - AutoGranted on Request is greater than 50, HIT abandonment rate (%) is less than 20, HIT approval rate (%) is greater than 95, Global Quality Score is greater than 5, Adult Content Qualification is 1, Quality score 4.1 - AutoGranted on Request is less than 30

TO is bad, because until early 2013 they used to reject. (The more recent complaints are because they unfairly pulled quals for the 0.07 porn HITs).

Morrisa's advice is golden. If you hang out in the HITs thread, you'll gain a lot of vicarious experience .. and maybe an occasional HIT. ;)

You're welcome! And yep, you'll find it a lot slower on Saturdays and Sundays. But I'll say that with a big flashing *Usually!!* because there have been times where a mystical requester showed up out of nowhere and graced everyone with megabucks. But it's a bit more rare on the weekend.

The daily thread will likely be slow today and maybe tomorrow - maybe due to back to school stuffs. But the thread is very active Mon-Fri.

As far as slowness on Mturk itself, it seems that a lot of newbie-friendly requesters disappeared within the last month or so. I'm going to blame the end of summer, or something, because I can't imagine they're gone permanently, but you never know. I can tell you that Venue Quality is still around as well as 411Richmond, Christian Lewis (these are great!), ClariTrans (if you like short audio transcription work), Prospect Smarter (excellent penny batches for numbers), Tagasauris (I have no personal experience with this one, but I've heard they're fair), AudioKite (very fast song rating HITs - just take all his 1 question music "tests" to get the quals), Jimmy Dragon for filler, Agent Agent, and Crowdsource has various HITs up all the time. That's all on top of surveys and studies.

Other requesters come and go, but if you keep an eye on that thread, we post good batches and surveys for all "levels" so to speak, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem building up to 5k.

And never be afraid to ask about a particular batch or requester if you'd like some feedback.

Thanks Tribune, I actually was about to do one for Jon Brelig earlier...but changed my mind, not sure why lol. As for the ProductRnR, that's the one my friend told me to get some qualifications for when I first started...of course I never did any HITs though, yes...I know I am a mess haha. I'm kinda liking the 411Richmonds, just did some more of them. I'll get the hang of things sooner or later, thanks again for your recommendations!

    Thanks Tribune!

Re: Prospect Smarter, they go to a 2 day Auto Approval. I believe they spot check as their instructions get updated here or there as they find errors, but it looks like everything does approve.

They require only 500 approved, so Gatita will be fine with those.

411 is great. They're very batch heavy on the weekend believe it or not. I guess because there are fewer of us working, so definitely check for them around afternoon time.

Thanks for all the info Morrisa! I think I may have ADD or something lol, taking in info and searching for different HITs is overwhelming for me...I need to write stuff on a notepad I guess. That and I don't know what my problem is with switching tasks, it's either I do nothing at all or go full blast on one certain thing. For example the 411Richmonds, since I started doing those I haven't even searched for one study/survey lmao, I need to learn how to multi-task and not get so caught up in one thing. My brother actually makes fun of me because once I get into something I'm like a machine and there is no stopping me, I'm quirky (weird) I guess...ugh, I don't know lol.

It's tricky at first because while you're working on a decent batch, a high paying survey might pop up and it's hard to switch gears. You could just give yourself a set time to work on things - work on this batch for 10 minutes, peek at the thread, see if a good survey was posted, work on that for 15 minutes, etc. You'll get there! It takes time.

I'm trying that right now...I have 2 windows open, one with the 411Richmonds and another looking for surveys/studies. So far I'm not doing to good though LOL, multi-tasking is HARD (for me at least).

adding this requester to the list, the pay isn`t great but good to build up numbers. they approve really fast and the tasks are simple. every now and then you get a little questionnaire for feedback which pays a little bonus on top

Does an expired hit affect you negatively?

    Thanks!
