Yeah it's certainly a better option than sending your earnings away to the void of amazon payment accounts right now. In fact this whole fiasco could all be a ruse to get us to spend our earnings at amazon.
That was surprising to see the first 1/3 because at that point, it felt like I was almost done. It seemed to load faster after 2/3 way through.
No you can either send the money to your gift card account (which if you have an amazon account it's already set up it just won't have any funds in it) or usually when you check out it'll let you use payments you have in your earnings account which is the money that's been approved that you haven't sent over to payments yet. Unless they've stopped doing that (it's been a while since I've done it so it's possible they have stopped) in which case you'd have to send the money from earnings to your gift card balance account first. Or perhaps it was money in your payment account that shows up. If that's the case the only option you'd have is to send it to your gift card balance first which should work but it'll take 6-8 hours just like sending it to your payment account does. If you didn't attempt to withdrawal money yesterday and weren't affected then your payment account might be fine.
Just go through checkout and you'll see the Amazon payment amount on there to use if you want to. Select that and they'll apply it to your order. I saw that this morning when I bought stuff. I had both gift card and amazon payment funds in there and both were options I could select.
I was surprised that I was part of a class action suit from Hewlwtt-Packard a few years back. I was allowed to pick out anything up to $1.75 at their site. Didn't bother.
I always have both because outside survey companies often pay me in Amazon gift cards. I had a complex combination of payments at the "cashier" few months ago, and they calculated it properly. I guess they weren't the same programmers who gifted up with this week's glitch. If everyone paid me with Paypal and/or checks (yes, 2 companies pay me by check,) I wouldn't even shop at Amazon. Bunch of #&^%@!*?$!! union busters just barely squeaking under the fairs labor laws

I started it, but when I realized that 5000 characters is a whole, whole lotta writing I returned. It claims up to $8, but it could be nothing, so not worth it to me.
