i was just commenting on the fact that you said everything you say is tongue in cheek and therefore your apology is tongue and cheek

Do you focus more on higher paying (+$10) writing hits, or...?

Encouraging new people is great, and so is being realistic. It's not good to tell them they should be making $10/hr and then leaving them feel like crap when they make $3. lol

this is important too. i would much rather spend 4 more hours working at home, being warm, having food and no supervisor, than having to trek outside in freezing cold weather and spending an hour or two commuting on someone else's schedule for what might amount to one or two more dollars an hour. because that's about the size of my alternates around here. two years ago at this time i was a successful freelancer in nyc making between $50 and $70 an hour, but shit happens and this is by far the best combination of comfort and income that i could be making right now...

I choose to do this instead of firing myself off in the job cannon. I value freedom more than the extra $3/hr I'd be making by having a boss. F that. I actually got an offer to run a new location of the business I sold that's expanding. I'm torn about actually going back into the job market. There's enough good jobs on turk that you can easily get by if you put effort into it. You just have to catch them and work your ass off when you do it. It's much like owning your own business, except there's no customers!!! <3

Oh, and you can treat your glaucoma if you're outside Washington state or Colorado.

Couldn't agree more. I wasn't saying Mturk is bad, but it pays a lot less than a new person would think from just reading people's posts on here lol.

I do an even mix, it really depends on the day of the week. I don't like to write if I don't have to. My grammar sucks. What I can tell you is I don't waste time on surveys, when someone cry's batch hit and everyone runs I dont bother fighting with them over a buck. You just have to find a way that works for you. Like today, I worked for someone I have worked for, for years and made 50 bucks in a few hours, then did a little writing and did 2 transcribe hits and im up to 107 for the day. "my turk day is around 6 hours usally or less"

  13. I was just saying that I meant it to be tongue in cheek in a tongue in cheek way. I'm sorry my meaning wasn't clear.

    My apologies

i and i'm sure many other people have had days where we only made that much hourly, but there are also other days that more than made up for it. i'm not necessarily trying to argue or say that you're completely wrong because, in some cases, people might just never get beyond making a crap hourly rate doing this, but i think if you've got the time and put your mind to it and yes, to some extent, treat it like a real job, then you can do a lot better... and i don't think anyone's saying you can make $10/hr without some other circumstances thrown in - having a masters or top tier writing qual, not being horrified by a day spent transcribing for speech ink, etc. but i feel like there are definitely as many days that i've made close to $10 as days i've made close to $3.

Another solid source of online income is becoming a Google Rater. You'll make $12-$15/hr and it goes extremely well with Mturk.

I dunno about that. When I started I had (I still have b/c, well, I'm busy as fuck...) a daily goal of $5.
I was quickly surpassing that at $10-20 from the get-go with the help of the forum.
